Any way of turning off the UK Group Training and who's racing forum. I feel like Mr no pals as everytime I fire into the forums section I see this forum with my latest thread that has no comments attached.

I think the problem is that most forum members cannot understand you because of your Scottish accent.  Try typing slowly and clearly ...

From the record turnout at the Turriff Tri last weekend I would say there are definately hordes of like minded people out there in the Highlands. Unfortunately few of them seem to have discovered BT yet, must try and roundup a few recruits.

Hi turbochick and newadventures. Thanks for dropping in. I guess its time to start a new thread here based on your input. I think we will go for a whose emigrated theme.

I have been to Thurso Karen. I have an Aunt and Uncle that stay there. They were both teachers but I don't know if it was at Pennyland school, their surname is Kirkpatrick in case that rings a bell. I have a rather bizarre memory of being in a canoe in a swimming pool in Thurso.

Hi - glad to see you're still about

I haven't been on here for a while because of pressure of (part-time) work - and it's not getting any easier.

I got out of the habit of visiting after my hol in Switzerland (- torn calf muscle and 7 weeks off)

However I've met my objective and got my first sprint done. I did the Erskine beginners and then the Midlothian Sprint. At the end of the Midlothian I clocked up my first 100 miles on abike so I was quite pleased at that.

I may have come last but both were brilliant.

I've my eye on the Portobello open water sprint but am still humming and haring as my wet suit is an old long john style that I used to use sailing and I'm not sure it looks cool enough to go into a Tri . I've also got a notion for the Jedburgh 1/2 marathon but as its twice as far as I've ever run it may be a bit of a challenge.

See you about

Dave

Hi Renee,
Sorry its taken me so long to get back to you - I'm just back from my holidays.
If you go to this site:
http://www.entrycentral.net
Then you can see (and enter) most of the races in Scotland and some English ones as well. I have only ever raced in Scotland so I'm not sure about where to get a note on all the English races but if I spot anything else I will let you know.

David

I found this site when first looking for triathlon information...

http://www.britishtriathlon.org

it has loads of events listed in England, I haven't searched for Scottish events though.

Glenn.

Hi,

My name is David and I am from Scotland. Ellon Aberdeenshire to be precise. Since the last post is at the end of 2006 are there any other Scots who have found this site and what are you up to??

I have just started out on my quest to do my first Tri. I was hoping to make the novice event at Turriff on May 13th but have a golf tournament that day so I am now aiming for the Sprint at Inverurie on 10th June.

Is there anyone out there?

Good luck at Inverurie. I warn you though, eventually the golf will take second place.

Pulch,

Thanks for the support. I have played golf for 36 years and am a qualified professional teacher so I doubt that I will stop now but can understand what you mean. As well as training and fiddling with my bike all I seem to do is read triathlon books, mags, web sites etc. Lucky for me the wife wasn't speaking to me anyway so no change there!!!

All the best,

David

Hi,

Well after dislocating my knee (twice) and my shoulder (once) and tendonitis in my other knee my ambition to complete a triathlon will have to wait until 2008.

I am starting to think of my training programme over the winter giving myself longer to get into shape for next March / April.

I will post on the forums here to let folks know how it is going, hopefully injury free!!!

All the best,

David
