Subject: Kansas City Area Running Stores

Hi all,

I've decided to focus on running in 2012, and am interested in being fit out for a couple new pairs of shoes at a store with a knowledgeable staff.  I don't live in KC, but will be there a couple times in the next few months and am hoping to do some shopping. 

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Can't go wrong with Gary Gribbles. They have locations all over the city. There is also a store called Ultramax opening in February in Praeie Village.

I'll second Gary Gribbles. Knowledgeable staff who are runners/endurance athletes themselves (for the most part).  I've never gone anywhere else for my shoes. It's also where I stock up on my GU products.

x3 on Gary Gribbles.  Got me into the right shoes for my marathon last year.  I think if you join the KC Track Club (only $20/month) you get either 10% or 20% your purchases at Gribbles.  If you get a $120 pair of shoes, that's worth it right there.

Just as a follow-up:

I went to Gribbles as recommended, and was very pleased with the experience.  Staff checked my foot size, tread on last shoes, watched me walk to check for pronation, and helped me try on eight pairs of shoes before sending me out happy in a shoe I really like.  Highly recommended.
