Subject: 2 x Continental Grand Prix 4000s for $85?

Hello everyone,

I'm thinking of finding replacements for my Continental Gatorskins for race days.  I found 2 x Continental Grand Prix 4000s for $85?  Does this look like a good deal?  Do these have a good shelf life when not used?  Please let me know.  Thanks! =)

That is a good deal.  In fact...I paid $100 for 2 just yesterday...doh!!!  Where are you finding this.

The absolute cheapest I've seen them is on clearance at Sierra Trading Post last year.  They were $36 each.  I bought 4 tires, I should have bought 12..  And yes...they hold up in storage.

Probikekit has them progressively cheaper as you buy more.  $38 each if you get 6 or more.

Awwman!  I know how you feel man.  I bought some pedals a couple weeks ago and they're cheaper today. =(

Here's where I found the deal:

This is excellent thanks!  I have a question though, why buy more than 2?  Or even 4?  Do these clinchers require frequent replacement?  What's the average mileage one can get using these on pretty good road conditions?

No idea on the average mileage but things happen.  My wife recently had a new tire get a big cut in the side from something that rendered it relatively useless.

Edit to make it (more) English-like

I've got about 1100 miles on a set now and they are still in great shape, have not flatted yet (crossing fingers). They are still pretty round, I expect to get many more miles out of them. I bought mine on amazon a while back for $36 or $38 each.

That is a great price. They usually sell for 65-75 each. I get between 3000-4000 miles on them.
