Wow, I'm in Wave 12 M40-45 will be right with you and 100's of our closest biking buddies. There will be some slow traffic in front of us... ugh.

Rode the course this morning. It's a lot different than first three times I've raced there. Overall I like the single loop course set up. I realized part way up there while driving that I forgot to change my cassette, so I rode it 50/34 with a 11/23 cassette. Will remember to put my 12/26 on there for the race.

Quick notes:
As you head into Granite Falls there are some smallish pot holes towards the right side of the road. Thinking these might eat a few rims or startle a few racers that don't see them coming. This is right as you come into town, the road is rough too.

The hill on Woods Creek Road is short but steep. Starting in the 3rd to last wave, I bet I'll see some folks walking up that hill.

Not far from the hill on Wood Creek Road is a tight right turn onto Ingraham road. I had pretty good speed going had to hit the brakes to make the turn. As you come around the turn there's an other hill to climb. I'll down load my Garmin later, but this one seemed longer and less steep than Woods Creek. Thinking there will be some folks walking this hill too.

The next turn onto Brown Road I totally missed. There's road construction right there and they waived me thru as I approached, so I just sprinted on thru. Figured out my mistake a ways later and back tracked.

The course route has Iverson Knutsen Road listed as a right turn, for the life of me I could not find Iverson Knutsen Road. I did find 171st and turned on that, seems to be the same street different name.

Overall, the course is like past years as it's on many of the same roads. Lots of small rollers, lots of twists and turns, some fast descents (I saw 51mph) once. A few sections that you can get into your grove and just roll along without shifting. I had no wind out there, so still planning on deep wheels. I was on the course a around 6:30am and it was kinda cool, I would have been really cold in a wet Tri top. Thinking for race day I'll start with arm warmers and roll them off later.

Random notes:
Was chased by two dogs
Had one dude try to see how close his mirror could get to me
Had one lady waive at me and then turn left over a double yellow and make me lock up my rear tire
Rode an extra 8 miles missing a few turns and back tracking
Saw one deer, this was most courteous encounter I had and the deer seemed to have the best understanding of road laws of anyone out there.

Thanks! Pieced it together for IMCOZ in 2010 for under $1000 using parts around the house and PedalForce having a screaming late season deal on the frame and fork. There are some parts on there from my old mid 90's Litespeed Tri bike and a lot of deal shopping. That is a track wheel front and the rear is a 50mm deep wheel with an cover on it. Each year I add/replace a few parts here and there. This season it's the saddle.

Looks like Rinny and TO will be racing with us, or in my case, at least somewhere far ahead on the same course.

No, but why would they have the bib numbers that are over a month old? I can't imagine it is terribly difficult to update a PDF document with the people who registered after 6/1.

Yep, Cozemul. I have no desire to do it again. I'd go to Cozemul again, but that course does not do it for me. We are thinking of IM Canada for next year (would be our 3rd time for IMC). Cozemul is a boring bike, three loops with killer winds on the south end of the island, the run is three loops too. IMAZ is same for me, boring. Best part of IMCOZ is the swim, that rocked. Clear water, warm, go over reefs, see fish... I'd do the swim again but not the rest of it

Just my luck. I have had a cold for over a week and now it is a full blown sinus infection. I'm glad I went to the doc today as I should feel better by Friday (antibiotics). He said to be sure to stay well hydrated during the race but they shouldn't affect performance.
