Anyone doing Langley Pond (Oly or Sprint)

Depending on how March goes I may late register this. Just wondering if anyone else is going or has done it before.

Thanks for the input. I know that the water will still be cold but with wetsuit should be no problem.

I've done Lake Murray before and it's on my calendar but it's the weekend after Langley, but neither are "A" races our anything for me and I'm doing mostly for fun and a sorta fitness assessment. So still stuck on whether to do one or the other or both.

I doubt I am doing it this year but it is a nice venue. The water will probably not be that cold It is very tolerable with a wetsuit. The run from the water to transition is pretty long. The bike ride has a lot of rollers but nothing bad after the first 3 miles. The run is really flat. The finish on the international distance is a little confusing because you run past the finish and out a dike and then back. If you sprint to the finish thinking you are done that extra 1/4 mile can be rough.

Overall it is a nice race and pretty well supported by the community.

Swimmers itch runs in my family.  Luckily, I *never* get it.  After this race, I broke out something awful.  Rash over my whole body.  I OWS all the time.  This is the only place I've ever had a problem.

This is probably a non-issue for most.  More of a PSA.  The race itself is a nice course and well put on by Setup Events, per usual.

I'm gonna offer a different word -- "infuriating"!  I'm joking, but it sure was difficult to be that close to the finish line, only to be pointed in the direction of the dike instead of the finish line....

I'll probably do the race this year.

Did the sprint last year as my first tri ever. Thought the course was great, and I'd like to do it again if I'm in town. The pond however has a nasty history. It is/was a superfund site, no joke. We took a trip down there for one of my classes. Most of the heavy toxic metals are in the sediment and biota, so don't worry if you swallow the water. Lake Hartwell is also a superfund site if it makes you feel any better... so last year alone, I did two triathlons at superfund sites. Maybe I'll grow a third lung.

Did this race last year, really liked it and plan on doing it again this year (sprint).

As with other, the transition and finish is a bit confusing, so make sure you ask an official in the morning before the gun goes off.

Decided to come back, will be my first tri ofthe year.  Hopefully no swimmers itch this year.  Won't be wearing a wetsuit unless absolutely necessary.

See you all there! Be prepared for the long run from the water to T1.
