Read this on CNN.com today. Chrissie talks about the mental component of training and racing.

I love this:

Remember that training is about learning to hurt

Seems like a common thread among Iron legends is the ability to suffer greatly.

I needed to hear this today...I seem to have hit a training "wall".

Can't wait to read the article.

That is a great article. Timely for me.

She is an amazing athlete. To see her race you never really see her looking like she is suffering, even in Kona last year when she was limping along. I remember watching her and benig kinda puzzled, her gait was all off and clearly you don't run like that unless something is wrong. I don't know, I always assumed it was because she was in such great shape. It never really occurred to me that she had some sort of awe inspiring will power and determination.

Must remember.

Good article.

Can't wait to read her book, should be some good stuff in there. I've loved Chrissie ever sense I heard her do an interview on "IM Talk" after her first win. She's as good as they come.

Great advice but I don't know about the greasy burger stuff. If I visualized that in a race the results would not be pretty!  Maybe she's going to do McDonalds ads.

I learned this one while training for IM:

When it hurts like hell...keep going.

"A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more."

Steve Prefontaine

All the Pro's talk about the same thing... managing / training through the pain. Those who can go the deepest are those that win races.
