Subject: Universal sports on Dish Network!!!

So it appears that Dish finally got with it and now has Universal Sports on Channel 402. I am so excited that I will finally be able to see some tri and cycling on TV.

Yeah rub it in lol... The new nbc sports channel has been broadcasting some cycling recently as part of a series they have (12 total I think). The Tour of Oman is up next. They showed the Tour of Qatar recently. I think they will start showing more cycling, running, and tri stuff once the seasons start to heat up. I wonder if they will broadcast bigger events on both Universal sports and NBC sports.

I actually just got rid of that channel on Directv. I saw some cycling, but rarely any tri stuff. If I was missing a bunch, let me know and I will order it again!

I started getting it last year (on Directv) and they did show a pretty decent amount of tri stuff---including several Ironman events, Kona--telecasts from the last 4 years, the Xterra championships, and some international tris as well. These were all shown pretty late in the season though---like around September. I Tivo'd them all, and haven't gotten through all of them yet.

They also showed some cycling and tons of swimming in the summer. I think the problem is that there just isn't that many triathlons being filmed; cause they DO show them, in fact they repeat the showings quite often.

I would say, give them another shot--but wait until midway through the summer!

For my 15 years of loyalty with Directv they gave me 3 free months of Universal Sports which just expired. I had it set up to record all triathlon but only got IM Arizona and Western Australia. I guess being off season they don't show it much. Last summer it seemed like they had more coverage.

I only got to watch Universal when visiting Atlanta, but I do remember seeing a couple of ITU triathlons last year. Chances are you just hit the season at the wrong time. I would expect them to be covering more winter olympic sports right now. I also am not sure how the olympics are going to affect the ITU schedule.
