I like it! I usually just smile and wave. I'm afraid to engage them, because their stupid might rub off on me.

Depending on the age/car, I will try and chase them if I am in the city.  I can get up to 30mph pretty quickly when the blood starts pumping.  Teenagers tune usually changes when they see you barreling down on them in the rearview and they have a stoplight ahead.

Other times I smile and cuss them out just loud enough for me to hear.

Exactly!  My take away from this is that when someone yells at you from a car you should throw a cat at them because they wont be expecting it.

I used to get angry then I noticed that the anger stuck with me and affected my ride. Now I wave like an idiot as if the driver was honking at me or yelling at me because he wanted to be my friend.

I like my new response. The driver wants me to get angry. That is their goal. When I respond positively they don't get what they want and I don't get stressed out.

I like the idea of flashing them, but it might be difficult to pull my pants down.  And then since they are in front of me at this point, I am not really showing them my butt...that will get them thinking/confused.

Smile and wave even if you didn't do anything wrong - neutralize angry energy.    I apologize if I'm within hearing distance.  Diluting/neutralizing road rage is my method of staying alive out on these roads.  DO NOT ENGAGE. There's way too many ticking time bombs just waiting to explode.  I don't want to be near any one of these people and they do show up.

I often wave while yelling "God bless you!" or "Have a great day!". I think that really messes with some people.

I only give a negative response when you are dangerously close to me on the road or you are texting and driving.

I smile and wave and if they're in hearing distance I'll yell "it's ok, Jesus still loves you"  :-)

I remember one time a guy was so busy yelling at me he didn't notice the other car in front of him had stopped and he rammed into him. It was nothing more than a love tap - once I saw it was nothing serious I gave the guy an over the shoulder look with a nice Kodak smile.

I am always sorry I can't understand what they say.  I am sure it is witty and intellectual.  So much creative mental effort wasted.  Such a loss.

Aim for their gas tank. (at least in my mind)      In reality, I just ignore it, and remember that an idiot will always try to bring you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

I always wave and smile. Cause a wave is a whole flock of one finger salutes.

Big "Like" here. Smile

I feel truly bad for the people who honk at me, which realistically isn't too often, maybe twice a year. In general they are probably frustrated, in a hurry, anxious- in general, they probably aren't in a really good place. So I feel bad for them.

Sometimes I do stuff I deserve to get honked at for... Yell For them- yup, you're right...

Mostly, I think that if more people spent more time on bikes we'd be a lot more friendly to each other.

I usually just try to keep going and ignore.  Like others have said, I don't want to absorb their negative energy.  But sometimes, especially if its happened several times already that day, or if they get particularly close, that middle finger just seems to have a mind of its own and jumps up there.  I hate it when that happens.

Yep, me too!  And it works just as well with angry drivers if you are walking, running or driving a car yourself.  So much fun to be had! Wink

Yep, smile and wave.

I've posted before about the beer bottle that was thrown at me......the only thing I learned from that is don't throw a beer bottle at me, I have no control over THAT guy.

It must be how I'm wired, but the first thing I think is, they must know me and I wave.  The second thought is 'that must a new slang phrase that means go faster the finish line is just around the corner.'  Be the time I'm finished thinking - They've moved on to the next guy.  Clearly, they are not going to get the reaction they wanted from me.
