Tell Us Your Story

The New Las Vegas Marathon is looking for one man and woman who have never run a Marathon before to be the focus of reality programming leading up to this year’s race on December 10. We are looking for people with little or no running background who will be trained by our experts and receive free entry into the race, a two-night race week stay at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino and roundtrip airfare. Gary Deckman, who lost 71 pounds on The Biggest Loser, will train and run the Marathon with the winners.

I'll enter if everyone promises to keep their mouths shut!

They'd google your name and marathon race results would come up....I mean...nevermind.

Just applied- I doubt I'll get it since my story isn't unique or anything, but might as well give it a try!

I like this Q: By finishing the New Las Vegas Marathon, what will have you accomplished?

Um, a marathon?

Runner
Subject: RE: Marathon Reality Show?
Wonder what they mean by "running expereience"? I have experienced it, yes. I believe in the existance of running, and people called "runners", who tend to do the running thing often, and with no real motivation to their actions (i.e. nothing chasing them, not trying to escape anything, etc.).

There's a reality show like this here in the UK...takes non-runners and turns them into marathoners. It's quite good actually.

Can you consider "little or no running experience" as I've been doing it for quite a while but I still suck? If so, I'm there....

I'd be interested to know how the 'programming' is going to be used. A race entry, flight to LV and 2 nights hotel could be chump change depending on what this is for.

Lisa, you'd be a GREAT candidate! You're cute as a button, personable and friendly. And... we had a little marathon talk at St A's - remember?

And then you'd have to actually switch off COJ and do something.

I'm betting on Lisa.

Thanks for the encouragement Max/Renee! And trust me, there is NO other person who is addicted to reality tv as I am. It would be perfect! And, I'm not really busy at work lately ever , so it would be a perfect time to take off for a while and train for a mary. I will let you know if I hear from them!

Oh yeah, and it makes for better headlines too.  I'm wondering which would attract more TV viewers?

1:  "Blathering COJ-er Extracts Himself From Sofa And Attempts To Run 26.2 Miles"

2:  "Bootylicious Tri Chick Seeks Adoring Fans To Pace Her Through Marathon"

Performing a random physical activity sporadically is not "training." At best, it's "recreation."

Suggestion to anyone contemplating ACTUALLY reading his logs - rent Rain Man first to get yourself ready for it.

Anyone can type coherently (well, most anyone).  For credibility, come up with eye witness accounts of actual moments of labor / feats of strength.
