Comments: Was overdressed at the beginning. Fist loop was distracting because of the number of people and crowded trail. Second loop was much more relaxed. Full race report at http://througharunninglens.blogspot.com/2012/03/land-between-lake-r... What would you do differently?: More electrolyte caps. I took two but should probably have had three. More long runs. Post race
Warm down: Cramping after race in calves, feet, and groin. Walked a lot. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of long runs. Also, this was a training race -- last long run before DWD Green Swamp in 2 weeks, so was being cautious. I was also worried about the IT band, which did not turn out to be a problem. Event comments: This is a great small town race. The race organizer really cares about the experience and is very helpful. The course is well marked and almost impossible to get lost on. The course is scenic, with views of the lakes in several places. Belt buckles are awarded for 60k and 50 miler finishers. Marathoners and 23k runners receive medals for finish. Besides the tech shirts, entrants received personally embroidered hats (not sure if that is for all events though). There are no age group awards in the longer distances, just overall awards. Nothing really. Just made sure I had all the necessary gear: hydration pack, electrolyte caps, and gel flask.
Walked to start. :-)
