Subject: 6 months of training down - First race Sunday! Well - I have done it - I survived 6 months of training, 35 pounds of weight loss and my wife thinking I'm completly insane for exercising virutually everyday, some days with two workouts :-) I lived through Mike's 3x Winter Plan and then the Sprint / Olympic Bridge. Everything has been in preparation for my first Triathlon, The Columbia Triathlon this Sunday. I am so excited. (Also really nervous) I've done everything I can think of... Worked with the wetsuit in open water - I've done the bike course - I've practiced the transitions.... I've read the USAT rules.... I just wish Sunday would get here already. First goal is to finish the race. Would be really great to break 3 hours, which I think I can do, based on my swim TT's , looking for 25 or so minutes.... The bike should be under 1:22 (that is what my z2 ride of the course took) which leaves the run.... the big wild card.... I've done two road races while training, a 10 miler back in April and a 10K just a few weeks back... Even though those both showed significant gains to sub 8 minute miles... My 10K time was 48:30... I don't think after swimming a mile and 25 miles on the bike that type of time is in the cards... but we will see Sunday. I am looking to finish strong and have fun. This will be a whole new experience! Any last minute advice anyone has is appreciated! I think I'm ready - even have my new BT Singlet to proudly wear during the race - without this site and the training plans and support - I never would have made it this far! Brandon |
