I've developed the dreaded chlorine sensitivity. About five hours after my last two swims, I've sneezed a dozen times and then my nasal passages have immediately locked up.

BT appears to have had some spirited arguments with itself as to whether it's an allergy or a sensitivity, but there seems to be general agreement that either nose plugs or a nose clip is the solution. I was wondering if anyone has a favorite design, brand, or model that they would like to recommend to me.

Thanks in advance.

I use the kind with the strap on them so if they get kicked off I will not lose them.  Sorry I don't know the brand name.

I too have to use a nose clip. I have the Speedo one with a double strip of metal connecting the ruberized sides. I hook it to the nose piece of my goggles with a small ruubberband so I don't lose it if it comes off. I hated the clip initially, but now I don't even notice it.

Not a fan of the nose plugs because it affects getting the CO2 out and oxygen in and yes I have given them a go.  If you are doing flip-turns I would cut those out and see if it helps. Forgetting about flip turns helped me out big time with my sinuses.

I am very allergic to lake water, or something in the lake water like algae.  My nose just plugs up solid for a day or two.  I would like to swim at the lake more frequently, so I am thinking of trying the nose clip too this summer.  I am going to go with the brand recommended here so let me know what works best.

I like the "old school" wire one with the flesh-colored rubber pads which are getting harder to find.  I hate the new silicone ones because they tend to slide off.

It will mess up your breathing man. It will be like squeezing 2 lanes of traffic back/forth on one of those IRT Deadliest Roads.

+1 on dropping the flip turns.

Not a big fan of them either, but I'm a big fan of breathing.  Without nose plugs I can't breath at all for about 2 days after swimming.  I was having to use Afrin every night just to go to sleep.

I have the congestion issue for OWS but I'm fine in the pool.  I use the ones with the strap like this http://www.swimoutlet.com/product_p/36688.htm. No real issues with training without and racing with the nose clip.

Thanks for all the advice. 6 different designs of nose clip are now on the way to my house, along with a new pair of speed socket goggles. Looking forward to getting back in the pool next week.
