I wanted to give big thanks to my local tri club for organizing a few events with Chris Lieto this week.  This morning he joined us for an open water swim session - proving a few tips followed by 25 mile bike ride.  Kind of a cool way to spend a Wednesday morning.

Tonight we have a happy hour with him and and a viewing of a documentary he has put together about his charity/foundation "More Than Sport".

The run would have had to take place before the bike, or it would have been a shuffle.

No disrespect to the man, though - he's an animal on the bike, and just hasn't put together a good bike/run split in an IM. HIM he's ok if he gets enough of a lead on the bike.

Sounds like a great time. I met him at KS 70.3 in 2010 and he's a stand up guy. If any of you follow dcrainmaker, he has a good write-up on there about training with him this past weekend as well.

Just sayin.. The guy is awesome and one of my favorite athletes. I have essentially the same strategy, crush the bike and hold off as many people as I can on the run. I'd like to see him do well in an IM but I don't see it happening.

Thats awesome that you got to train with a top pro.

Let's be real for a minute.  Chris runs a great marathon off the bike by any standard.  Just not quite as good as Crowie and a few others.  I don't think there are too many of us with room to criticize his running.
