I'm going to be out in SLC for 8 weeks on a clinical and obviously want to continue training. Does anyone know if there are any good bike routes/group rides, pools I could take advantage of, or how the running is over there? Thanks in advance.

What part of the valley will you be in?

There are LOTS of indoor pools.
Several good bike routes (900 East up to Capital and across Beck, Wasatch down to Suncrest for midride climb, Emmigration Canyon, Marina for flat and fast, etc)

We have a group that meets for speed workouts on Wed nights at local track in mid-valley.

Plan to start running Millcreek Canyon on Monday nights.

Lots going on in general... feel free to ask to join Desert Sharks Facebook Group.  There's always a group workout being pulled together that might help you learn some routes.

Pretty much anywhere you go outside of the actual City of Salt Lake is great for biking and running. People seem to be pretty aware and courteous towards our kind around here. What part of Salt Lake will you be in?

If you're going to be downtown City Creek is good for both biking and running, Emigration canyon is great, and if you're looking for a straight flat ride Saltair is pretty good.  There are two good pools near downtown, the one not in the ghetto is called Steiner East.  I believe it's $5.50 for a day pass, they have an outdoor 50m pool and an indoor 25m.

If you're interested, my tri club trains together several times a week.  I'm sure you could drop in, we always need extra people.

I think I'm going to be near Murray, UT. Not sure how close that is to everything described.

You could swim with the Murray Masters group M, W, TH 6pm-7pm. There are usually about 10-15 people there. You are not far from a lot of biking and running areas.

I use to go up to Salt Lake City for work a couple times a year for a week or so at a time. The City Creek Canyon Road was great for running or cycling if you're staying down town, as it's just outside of downtown.

There are also a couple of trails that you can run that take you up and you look out over the city.

So far I've ridden Wasatch Blvd a few times and plan on joining the Masters Swim class at the Murray Recreation Center. I know a few people mentioned some group rides around the area but I am still pretty unfamiliar with the city. Do any meet close to Murray? Thanks again.
