If water temps are in the mid-50s, how strongly would you recommend a full suit vs. the sleeveless? I think my preference would be to not have the suit on my arms, but if I'm going to freeze my arms, I'll go with the full.

I'm looking at 1/2 mile in mid 50s water. What's the recommendation?

Oh, and I'll make sure the trim on the wetsuit is red. I hear red is faster.

I like the full. If my arms start to get real cold then I may start playing mind games with myself thinking I may not finish the swim.

I can't find the link, but full suits are faster than sleeveless (at least according to the article).  The big drawback is that you don't get the cooling effect...but if the water is that cold, staying cool won't be a problem.

Ok, that was easy. I just ordered a full suit from Promotion, and got the BT'er 15% discount. Will get it in 2 days. Very exciting for a newbie!

I mentioned this a bunch a year or so back (before taking a bit or a tri-hiatus), but ProMotion also has the Tri Sleeves, which is a jacket-like wetsuit top that you can wear under a sleeveless. So, you buy the sleeveless and the Sleeves, and you can choose for each race/day whether to go with or wthout sleeves.

Only drawback that I can see is that it takes a bit longer (30 seconds?) to strip off the extra layer at T1. I have them, and I think they're great.
