Subject: 4.14.12 Super-dee-duper Saturday!

Good morning all!  Hope all you racers are having a great time out there.

Off day for me today so I spent some time stretching and doing some strengthening type band work.  

Hope you have a fun-filled Saturday!  As for me, will be an interesting day. Our older daughter's 12 and under accelerated fast pitch softball team is coming out to play my husband's high school fast pitch team.  Truth be told, the game could go either way!  Could be an interesting evening around my household tonight!

Still sick, although a bit better. Felt fine(ish) when I woke up so went grocery shopping--nearly fell over in the store! Hied me back home and resting since. Also managed to eat a little today!

Still having hip pain/IT band issues so no training today   I think I am going to rest all weekend and hopefully, back to normal on monday. I did go to the Farmers Market today and get some fresh veggies.

Set a 10k PR at club race today; had so much energy decided to add another 10k in. Biked Home 8 miles, then about to do another 8 miler for packet pick up for tomrrow's 105 mile hill challenge race!

1500m swim (did 400m at RPE 7 in 7 mins so happy!)

50km ride - my first clip mishap - unclip left try and put right foot down, never gonna be pretty.

4.5km run.

Phew!

I had to work on this beautiful Saturday, so instead of 50 glorious miles in the mountains, I did 2 hours on the bike in the morning, 40 minutes in the pool in the afternoon, and 30 minutes of strength in the evening.

One hour on the bike today.  Actually I was out for almost two hours but I kept getting stopped by friends.  I've got to get away from my neighborhood.  I restarted my ride about four times.

I ran a 5k in 32:12. I know that's not super fast or a really big deal, but it was my first race after my surgery in Dec. It's also the fastest I've run in about a year. Still a long way to go, but I think I'm seeing good progress. This afternoon we went for a quick bike ride (18 miles). Now I'm trying to figure out a healthy dinner to keep me from making pizza or pancakes.

2500 yards in the pool this morning.     Actually did some sprint work this morning.  Surprised that I still am decent fast.

50km Ride ~ 1:24:00 on the rollers this morning.

Easy 11km afternoon Run with a couple hundred stairs thrown in.

Swam 28x100 in the pool - ran out of time ... lifeguard threw me out just now.

4:45 AM 100 km bike ride (3:52). Already hot by 6 AM. 50 minute run after.

Errands downtown which involved about 3 miles of walking in an oven.

Too tired for swim "workout" but desperate for pool (heat index 110) so just did 2000m of stuff--easy swim, drills, kicking, playing with pool toys.

Really tired tonight, for some reason. Tongue out

I'm around a few places and it can be a bit much trying to put logs everywhere, even with copy & paste.

The work I've done over the past few years has really been more FTP related, so it wouldn't necessarily help anyway. I put in some of what I do in recent threads by powerman and aquagirl. That helps to be able to keep going after a sprint.

For developing this sort of thing, it's more short efforts (15-60 sec?) and attack like a man possessed. This is more of a holdover from riding around and going really hard on a hill because it was fun, before I got into and started structuring things for tris. Or from being the oldest and therefore faster than my brothers. I had to either go slower than I wanted, or go really hard and wait up. They loved trying to catch up too.
