Expert 1145 Ann Arbor, MI | Subject: Bucket List Ultra Events What races/events are on your must-do list before you become worm food? This is my (sort of) order for now: - UTMB - Western States - Hardrock - Massanutten Mountain 100 - Tahoe Rim Trail 100 - Thru-hike AT, Continental Divide, and Pac Crest Trail - Comrades Marathon - Complete the Grand Slam: WS, Vermont, Leadville, Wasatch |

Champion 5312 Calgary | Subject: RE: Bucket List Ultra Events Right now I want to do a 100 miler, non specific, but the one on the schedule is the Lost Soul. I would like to do the Alberta Triple which is 2 100 milers and one 100k'er in one year. I also want to get the Forest Gump award for doing all the ultras in Alberta in 1 year (there is like 8 or so ranging in distance) (but they keep adding more so may be tricky). Ultraman Canada. You may suspect I am opposed to travel. If I could deal with that phobia I would like to do the rim to rim to rim one day. Most of the big races don't really appeal to me. I mean, I guess Comrades would be awesome. That one that is 5 days through the sahara would be wild too. A double or triple ironman is a goal as well, I often go to bed dreaming of it. The idea of thru hiking is a good one. I am sure there are a lot of great routes in the rockey's which I could look into someday when I can manage to take some vacation time. I would also like to bike the golden triangle in BC in one day, which is about a 370km ride. A 24 hour mountain bike race would be awesome too. But I don't have a mountain bike. |

Subject: RE: Bucket List Ultra Events Western States - I appreciate the history and would like to get in at least once. Palm to Pine 100 - No reason - not sure why, but I really want to do it. IMTUF 100 - It's in McCall, Idaho - one of the most beautiful places I have ever been - hidden up in the forest and hills about an hour away from Boise. Just gotta save all of my pennies to get to this one.

IMTUF 100 - It's in McCall, Idaho - one of the most beautiful places I have ever been - hidden up in the forest and hills about an hour away from Boise. Just gotta save all of my pennies to get to this one. I'd never heard of IMTUF 100 before you mentioned it. One loop course, all single track, 22,000' total elevation gain, sweet Idaho mountains, 2,500' climb from miles 85 - 95(!), and it starts and ends at hot springs. What is there not to love about this course? My list just got longer. Palm to Pine is on my long list; intrigued by the point-to-point courses. |

Master 1883 San Antone, Texas | Subject: RE: Bucket List Ultra Events Western States definitely. I'm going to put in for the lottery this year when it opens. Leadville -- its at the top of the list with WS for me Badwater -- as painful as it looks I can't stop thinking about it those are the main ones I want to hit. Yeah, I'm a sucker for big names There are a few other things I want to do that are local to me. I'd like to run all of the Tejas Trails series races in one year, and also run the Big Bend ultra sometime. Maybe also do the Caballo Blanco ultra down in Mexico. Master 2264 Sunbury, Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Bucket List Ultra Events So, for a guy who hasn't run more than 13 miles at once yet, is it weird that I have a poster of the badwater route? I'm starting small. Goal right now is to do the Pennsylvania Trail Grand Slam in 2013. I just failed to line up at Hyner yesterday (not an ultra, a 25k - though they added a 50k option this year for qualifiers), so I need redemption at an August trail event. I admire you folks from afar right now. In a couple years I hope to join the ranks of actual ultras. |

I can't wait to get out there and bust out my headlamp on the trails! We just watched the Badwater documentary Racing on the Sun...if that isn't a motivator to get out there and run one, I don't know what is! |

Extreme Veteran 487 | Subject: RE: Bucket List Ultra Events Not sure if it counts as an "event", but the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim-to-rim, which I'm going to do in t-13 days! Besides that, Hardrock... and the whole Rocky Mountain Slam, really. UTMB would make a great vacation race, and WS for the history. And Kona, if I'm allowed to say that in this forum. ;-) |

But you must do a penance. 100 miles for you, starting now! |

I found your event shirt!!! Heh. That's pretty funny. OK, so I left one off my list... I have the Badwater itch too, but there a few things I'm not crazy about it (stop at 8k'?! Come on!). My GF just agreed to put this on our 5-year to-do list, more as a hike than a run, but still: http://www.simblissity.net/L2H.shtml |

Wow! My bucket list just grew by one item. In fact, it might be topped by a new item. That looks absolutely incredible. |
