Hi everyone,

I've been lurking for months. I'm an uncoordinated nonathlete that's going to do a sprint tri this summer. I've enjoyed reading your posts and encouragement and decided to declare myself! Wow, that sounds like a commitment.

I enjoy running. I'm slow but have endurance. I can swim .5 mi. in the pool, but seem to get lost in open water. I lose all sense of direction and since I'm near sighted, it makes for some problems. I enjoy biking on flat trails with no traffic. I hate going downhill, really hate it. Lots of fear. And going uphill is still a challenge. I'm getting used to the gears on my bike very slowly. There are 24, which is maybe 23 too many!

I know I have it in me to do this. I'm really impressed with your accomplishments. I look forward to getting to know you better.

Mary

Hello Mary - do you have a race picked out yet? Do you have a training schedule - I did pick out my race but the actual schedule is another story - life seems to get in the way..I really need to write one down and actually stick to it. I am glad to see that you have decided to try a race this summer. Keep us updated on your progress and good luck.

Hang in there Mary!  I hate downhills on the bike too!  They scare the crap out of me! (can I say that on the forum?)

I too am slow but have endurance.  That puts in line for the longer distance tris!

Good luck!

Welcome Mary! Sounds like your getting into the groove of training pretty well! Slow but steady! Best of luck with your race!
