I am going to Oak Island this weekend and need to do around 45-50m but hoping to do it Friday or Saturday morning (before 8am).  We are coming in late thursday night.  On vacation I prefer not to drive one bit (except to restock on beer) so I that rules out that ride for me.

Where are you staying at?

Sidenote to any Brunswick County folks...any good 40-50m routes from Oak Island?

Oh, come on.  I'm driving down from Topsail.  Oak Island is practically in Leland.

I'm here to report that the Cape Fear guys hammer it.  Tropical storm winds and 10 mile long false flats be damned.

The wind was blowing so bad on Saturday that I had to pedal so hard to get over the intercoastal waterway into a direct headwind that I snapped my freaking chain!  Luckily I was able to turn around, sit up, and be blown the 2m back to my rental.

took out my wife's bike on Sunday for 50 and while the wind was not as bad, it still has quite a challenge coming from no wind charlotte.
