I really like when he was explaining about him taking grief for having an entourage helping him to be able to have the time to train and race "I came from nothing and worked hard to have what I have and I’m not going to make any excuses for that."

You go Lance.  At 41 - to be killing it like this - very inspiring.  

So what's everyone's predictions for IM France?

No sunglasses? Dang...the man's a beast.

I've always admired Lance. I don't give a flying fig about the negativity - if there's really much of any.  You have to admit that as an athlete, he's amazing. 

It takes too much time to put them on.  Ha.

I am a HUGE Lance fan.  I am very excited to see what he can do at Ironman distance this year..

So what's everyone's predictions for IM France?

I wouldn't be surprised if he won. Home turf (he used to have a place in Nice).

Another possible outcome is him going into the run with a lead but having to give back 1 or 2 spots on the run. That run is hot and flat, but the crowds really keep you going.

There were a number of times he didn't wear them on Le Tour, but I never caught his rationale.

Bontrager Aeolus D3 7 front + Lightweight Disc, according to that article.

So how much would they cost an average Joe like me?  My guess is they cost more than my entire triathlon budget for the year.

Just saw this, AFTER I posted my follow up Question...  Turns out I was wrong - it's more than my budget for triathlons for the next 5 years!

Although a little blurry here you can see he had shades coming out of transition.  And no I didn't see him on the run as he was finishing about 3 min before I got off the bike.  Would have been cool as he had to run right by transition to get to the finish.

When I saw the pic of him on the bike my mind said looks like an 'Armadillo'

Jeez, I love Lance and his supernatural athletic ability!!  He is SUCH a stud.  I'm totally serious!  And I love that's he's kickin butt!  It's exciting!  Thanks for posting and for all the fun links withing the thread

You should try going into Mellow Johnny's and seeing all his tour bikes on the walls, including Hincapie's from Team Discovery.  They have a version of his tri bike hanging from the ceiling and it is like heaven in there.  

They had a beautiful powder blue Trek 47 in. women's tri bike with his graphics on them, and I could never in my wildest dreams afford that bike, but I swear if everyone wasn't looking I would have licked it and hugged it until you had to pry me away from it.  

Great to see him doing well, hope he (and triathlon) get more TV coverage.

This is a bit off topic, but related to the cool photo. Anyone have any idea where all the pros are keeping there nutrition? Lance was talking about getting his nutrition dialed in for this event, but I can't see any sign of a bento box, behind the saddle storage, or even bulging jersey pockets like us mere mortals have to deal with.

And its not just Lance, because this has been bugging me and my wife for a while- we've studied magazine photos, ads, tv coverage of events, and can't seem to find any sign of where pros are keeping anything other than fluids. Driving us crazy!

Oh, and for the record, Lance is going to win in France for sure.

Seriously though, some will use a form of bento box. Some just tape gels to the top tube, so pics could be late race after they've eaten. Some just take from the aid stations, so they aren't carrying anything on the bike. These ones know they can handle a variety of nutrition/flavors that might be at the stations. From there they figure out how often they should get it and plan accordingly with the aid station locations.

yeah, this is the interwebs where most things are fair game, and yeah its in sarc font, and yeah, maybe its meant to be in jest...but why even go there?...I mean, seriously....there's tons of other threads that discuss this crap.....
