Subject: Finished my first Olympic Distance Tri!!!! After relying on this site for everything triathlon over the past 5 months, I had to share that I finished my first olympic distance triathlon over the weekend. I had a cold the week prior, which meant no training, then flew across the country with my bike in tow (so scared my bike wouldn't make it unscathed ) and competed on Sunday. The area had unusually terrible weather leading up to the race, and the sea was very choppy with a big swell. I was most nervous about completing the swim, so seeing the rough ocean wasn't a pleasant thought at 6am. Apparently some competitors were throwing up as they came out of the water, so it was really rough!
BUT I decided I'd rather start the olympic and possibly pull out that to comfortably complete the sprint (I've completed six of them over the past few years ).
And well I had the biggest smile on my face when I not only finished but wasn't DFL!! Finishing time in 2:52, being 13/15 in my category and 104/118 overall. The winner came in an hour before me, but that couldn't kill my super happy mood!
PS - the bike course was about 4-5km too short, hence the super face first place time. I wish it had been a full olympic distance, but seeing as it was supposed to be, I'm still claiming it as my first!
