Swim

  • 880 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

I believe the swim was noticeably long than last year. I swam pretty hard and exited the water with the 2nd pack in my wave.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, good swim for me.
Transition 1
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

Meh, one of these days I'll practice these...
What would you do differently?:

This is where my major mistake occurred. I should have put my 310 on my wrist instead of in my mouth.
Bike
  • 38m 2s
  • 14 miles
  • 22.09 mile/hr
Comments:

Biked fine based on RPE. I was a couple of seconds slower than last year.
What would you do differently?:

I put my watch in my back pocket b/c I couldn't put it on while riding. It's pointless to train with power and then not race with it, especially when it's available. It was a major mistake...I probably would have done way better had I stopped and put it on. I was well below the overall wattage I can hold, 10% or so. Won't make this mistake again.
Transition 2
  • 00m 51s
Run
  • 19m 26s
  • 3 miles
  • 06m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Great run, I was on the rivet the entire time. I had a strong finish as well.

Garmin has the run at 3.1 (so a sub-20 5k is always welcome).

Warm down:

Hang out with the family

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Big mistake on the bike to not utilize my power. Live and learn.

Event comments:

I still love this race and the weather was perfect this year!!!

Thanks Emily. It was a total rookie mistake.

However, the day could not have been more beautiful and the competition was pretty solid. I have no idea where I am going to find 7 minutes in the future to catch the top guys/gals, but I am actively looking!
