Any tips for the 5430? How many people are in each swim wave? How crowded is the bike? I'm planning on riding the course Tuesday. I've riden the part from Neva Rd back, but never the other side. Anything special to know. It will be my second ever tri and my first in four years. I am planning on hitting the stroke and stride Thursday to check out the water. Thanks!

There are roughly 100-200 swimmers per wave, spaced 5 minutes apart if memory serves.  The bike isn't very crowded, and the rollers on the first part of the course help sort the pack out as well.  Most important thing about all the Boulder races, there's NO shade on the run course. Hydrate early the days prior, and during the bike, it'll be warm out there!

The first 6 miles on the bike.......as mentioned in the previous post, the first mile-ish has a couple of rollers. Then the next 5 miles is a false flat, but it's really a gradual incline. After that, you can pretty much crush it on the bike

Thanks! I went and rode the course today and really enjoyed it. We started at the middle for easier logistics. I'm getting really excited for the race. Anyone else doing it?

I'm doing it! Did it last year and it was a great race! The run can definitely be hot but at least it's flat. Good luck and enjoy yourself!

Get there early. Transition fills up quickly.  If you've riden Neva recently you know what to expect there.  The road is in really bad shape.  The swim waves are pretty full, the S&S should give you a good feel for that.

Just enjoy!  It is a good race.  We'll see you all there.

Any chance they will cancel the event due to the fire?  How many of you will compete if it is smokey?

I live about 5 miles from the Res - to the North. Monday it was not bad I still ran outside. Yesterday it was really bad in the morning and dissipated through the day. Today not bad at all and I will workout outside unless it changes. I would not race if it was like yesterday. If it's like Monday or this morning I probably would. Those are just my thoughts. Curious what others are thinking.

Yes!  The first one I went to I got there not long after transition opened and it wasn't bad.  The last one I did a few years ago I got there right around when transition opened and there was already a huge line of people!
