I'm coming to Vegas the weekend of June 17th, one week before my Oly tri. Does anybody know where I can rent a road bike for a day to get in at least one workout that weekend?

Can anyone recommend a safe run route, leaving from the Mandalay Bay, other than on the strip?

Welcome to Las Vegas. There is only one place that I know of that will rent, check the link below. Hopefully they are helpful.

Have fun in Vegas. I recommend riding the Red Rock loop. Ask the rental place about it, I am sure they will concur. Beautiful scenery, ride begins with a few miles of uphill, but you are rewarded with some excellent downhill. It is a one way road so the only cars you are dealing with are going in your direction.

As for a run route, I have never tried it but it would definately have less traffic than the strip. Right behind the Mandalay Bay is a street called Frank Sinatra. It basically starts at the Mandalay and heads north. It will take you up behind Luxor, Excalibur, New York New York, Bellagio, Cesars. There is still traffic, but not like the strip. Again, I have never run it, but I would imagine it was as good a run as any in Vegas.

Just a leisure trip. My husband has a conference the next week, so we thought we'd take the weekend before to get away without the kids...plus flights were cheap!

I won't be arriving until the afternoon of the 17th, so I don't think we will be able to connect. Have a good time finding places to workout!  I know I'll be struggling!

What is the closest public lap swim pool to the Mandalay bay? I'll have to take a cab there, so the closer the better.

24 hr fitness on tropicana and decatur is the closest I know of. I think they will do one day memberships, but I'm not positive. Easy to find if you google it.

If you are going to see the damn, lake mead at boulder beach, where it says special events beach is a good place for ow swim. shore drops off gradually and it's about 1/2 mile long, water temp is about 74 or so. We'll be below the damn doing a little kayak/camping/fishing for my sweeties birthday weekend..... WOW how lucky am I...
