Subject: For those of you wondering where I went, here's the scoop

After IMAZ, I decided to take 6 months off to rest my legs.  My peroneus and shins were in constant pain in prior to the race, and I barely made it through the race.  The podiatrist told me it was tendonitis so I rested for 6 months. Starting up after break though, the problems continued.

I just got back from the doctors office and it looks like I'll be out with a torn retinaculum which they're giving me a few weeks of rehab but everyone believes it will probably need surgery.  I can't SBR at all until this is fixed.

The retinaculum hold the Peroneus and Tibialis ligaments in place at the ankle.  When I move my foot from side to side, my peroneal muscle pops out over my Fibula muscle. Its not painful, but my muscles hurt the next day if it happen alot.  The pop isn't loud and barely noticeable so I think it has been occuring for possibly the last 2 years.

For those of you who were wondering where I went, that's the deal.  I'm actually happy to get a real diagnosis for these issues, and looking forward to being able to train with a healthy leg in 2013.  I'll try to post some, but I find the best way to rehab and injury like it is to step away from Triathlon and find other ways to kill time.  Otherwise I put too much pressure on myself and return to early and train too hard.

Ciya guys in 2013!

Good for you for getting this diagnosed thoroughly. Well done. Also- updates like this are valuable and appreciated for a number of reasons. They let us know where you went and provide insights into issues other may be experiencing. Valuable.

Take care and best of luck with mending up.

Here is a miniature exotic antelope to help you heal up:

Happy that you have a diagnosis and a plan to address your issue. Not to happy to hear you need to take time off to heal but a year from now you will be happy.

I hope I will be able to find a doctor who can figure out what is wrong with me and how to help.

Actually, I have been. That really sucks about being down. Just do the right thing and get it healed. But in the mean time... don't be such a stranger. Here's to a full recovery!

Ug, bummer, you must have been so disappointed to not have healed up properly after your  break but I'm sure it's a relief to know there's light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck with your recovery! There must be some other kind of hobby to get obsessed with, fill us in when you find it! Wink

x2. I was also wondering about you. Best wishes does not sound sufficient but you have my most heartfelt wishes for a complete recovery and peace of mind until then.
