Subject: Proud Dad

This January on my birthday I committed to doing my first triathlon at 45 years old. I trained hard until I did my first tri in June. Then I started training again for the Rev3 Sprint at Cedar Point Ohio in Sep.

Well, since then I have talked my wife (has done half marathons) into trying a Girls Tri Too race (women only half sprints races series). And my 12 and 10 year old daughters are going to do the kids tri at the Rev3 tri at Cedar Point in Sep.

Both girls are already pretty fit as they play premier soccer but today they started their training, all on their own.

They started with about 400 yards in our pool, a mile or two on the mowed trails on our 12 acres and then they ran about 3/4 of a mile on the same trails.

So I had to brag to everyone and put a quick pic up.

Kudos for planting the seed of inspiration. Looks like you have a family sport on your hands--perhaps triathlon based family vacations are in the near future!

one more thing...are those aero bars on the taller girls mountain bike?  If so...that's awesome!

I love hearing these stories! And maybe I'm biased, but especially the stories about young girls taking up triathlon. (I really didn't have any female athlete role models growing up.) Sports do so much for a girl's confidence, success in school, overall lifetime health, etc. Way to be a great inspiration, Dad!

Yes those are a pair of clip on aero bars. I put them on the hybrid bike that my wife is using to train for her "girls Tri Too" triathlon. If she like the triathlons then we will be getting her a bike next spring. Those are th ebike the girls are going to use for the Rev3 kids triathlon is Sep.
