Hey guys. Stage just started. My son was so excited he made me set a countdown clock until it started. He keeps saying "show the bikes!"

I'm so proud.

Is there an aero loss from Wiggins' sideburns? I think its at least a few watt/seconds over the course of the tour. That's just wasted energy.

Heh, GMTA. Started a thread 5 min ago, but let's hop into this one. Here's what I wrote:

Well, well. Le Tour never disappoints with drama as to date, with 20 withdrawals due to injury following crashes, it's been the most dangerous Tour yet. It's also unfortunately not a Tour without at least the shadow of a doping scandal: Cofidis's Remy Di Gregorio remains in custody after an arrest that Cofidis claims is "an isolated incident." (No, really, what else are they going to say?) And at a dizzying zenith is pie-in-the-Sky-high with their entire team in yellow; Wiggins the blazing sun with the maillot jeune by a 2-minute margin, and Froome the shooting star beside.

What will today hold, with the all-categories (including one uncategorized, hell on wheels?) climb Gran Colombier, "the toughest mountain in France"? Stay tuned!

---Also, I wrote that thing about the sideburns in Sherwen-Liggettisms (even though Paul Sherwen isn't commentating this year) ... hilarious

You know what I've notices in the crashes? This year they've almost all been on straight, flat roads. It seems like theyve all been from someone losing focus.

I had to show my kids Jens Voigt giving up that bottle. It's small, but it's a class move.

Or the salty tears of his competitors as he breaks them...

Or the souls of those who dare to challenge his Jensness...

So does Sagan going for the intermediate sprint mean he will stay in green??  I ask this because they keep talking about it being such a wise move, never done before, not expected----to me it seems to be stealing a page from Cervelo a couple years ago for Thor to win green---win the intermediate sprints on stages with some climbs/bumps---and Sagan is much more a sprinter than Thor when it comes to finishing sprints....

I was waiting for one of the experts to answer.  I would say probably yes.  Afterall, there's an HC that's going to eliminate all the sprinters from the stage win chances.  Then there's a cat 2 near the finish meaning the day might go to the climbers/GC guys with the sprinters trickling-in about 20 minutes late holding onto their team cars.

Does anyone else think Sagan could train to be a GC competitor if he just lived on Alpe d'Huez for the next year?

Sorry I disappeared from this during the stage (had to workout sometime---so trainer/treadmill with stage on.....).

Well I know REALLY wonder about Sagan's move---seemed two-fold---get intermediate sprint points and then hang on just long enought to give Nibali (sp??) a shot at clawing back some time...pretty shrewed move by Liquigas I would say!!!!

I had wondered if Voekleor would "come good" this year--hadn't seen/heard much from him till today.  And Jens is just well Jens!!!!!

I was hoping for Jens, but was happy to see Voeckler win a stage. I hope this means his knee problems are behind him. He really impressed me with his guts and determination last year, so I am happy for him.

WOW Nibali NOT happy with Wiggins after this stage http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest/533850/nibali-hits-out-at-wiggins-after-tour-frustration.html

I find it kinda of odd since wasn't Nibali running his mouth earlier about only worrying about Cadel since he didn't think Wiggins was a factor?!

Wow, I had a busy day yesterday so I couldn't follow along. But way to go Jens! He helped Voeckler catch Davinitz.

Really can't believe Nibali's comments. What a doofus. I just watched that clip a few times and Wiggo looks to be looking around to see who's with him, not to taunt. His comments are classless. If he has so much courage, he would've used that breakaway and help from Sagan to get back some time. But instead he just whines about the other GCs. What a doofus.

But at least we know he's clean since he broke right? Voeckler looked a bit too relaxed on the finish...just saying.
