Sent a group email to those who are on the list.  Planning on an OWS/Bike/Run at Clemson this Saturday.  If you are interested in this, or other group workouts.....PM your name and email address so I can add you to the distribution.   Thinking we will swim @ 7:00 a.m. and then take it from there.  Small group right now....waiting to hear from others.

Clempson.....do you know if the parking lot by the rowing club is open Saturday mornings?  Is that the best place to swim from?  Also...any way for me to check if the school has something going on that day that would prevent us from swimming?  Thanks

it should be, i don't think there is a gate to the entrance of the gravel parking lot, but i will double check tomorrow when i go out there... if it is closed then everyone can park down the hill by the athletic fields and just walk up to it.  that is probably the best place to swim from; there is the YMCA beach across the cove (where the clemson tri was held), but the ski team and sailing team are located there and there is a lot of boat traffic, and the swim course would be sketchy.

checked the school schedule and i don't see anything listed as going on to prevent anyone from swimming out there or getting there.

i'll be in clemson all weekend so i'll shoot you a PM to add me to the list with my info

directions to the boat house here

I found the boat traffic to be a little less at Y beach so I usually swam there when I was by myself or with a coach. It is always open. I usually went in the mornings mid-week to avoid traffic.

what route do you take from the Y beach?  i would think following the dike out and back by the crew house would be safer, but i don't have much swimming experience on the other side of the cove to know the differences.

from the Y beach the group could always use the clemson tri bike/run routes as a starting point too.

I walk out the dock and swim to the right, down the cove. There is really no boat traffic there unless someone is driving their boat back  to the dock. There can be a lot of boat traffic by the rowing club at times. There is also a running trail that might help get used to Paris mountain. If you take a right as you run out of Y beach, it is on your right. I goes up to the rowing club if I remember correctly.
