Sensei Sin City | Subject: Lolo Jones Did I fall for the hype? I think I even hear/read she was America's best hope for gold in the hurdles? Or was she just getting all the attention because she looks better than the other girls? She seemed less than stellar on all her races.
Also notice how she drags her feet/toe out of the blocks? Must be to get spacing right for that first hurdle, but it sure looks weird, like she's about to fall over. Probably goes through shoes fast. |

Master 1704 Charlotte | Subject: RE: Lolo Jones She finished 3rd in the Olympic trials and hasn't been running anywhere close to medal number this year. She had a PR and still didn't medal. In reality, she probably exceded expectations of most track people. She gets attention because she is good looking, has a good personality, very active on twitter, and there is some interesting stories behind her life. |

Extreme Veteran 586 Edgewater, CO | Subject: RE: Lolo Jones Hopefully the Lolo train has left the station and will not return. I will give her credit for knowing how to market and position herself. The two other Americans in the event (who both medaled) sort of put the smack down on her (rightfully so imo) in their interview this morning on NBCSN. |

Champion 6539 South Jersey | Subject: RE: Lolo Jones She wasn't favored to win -- she was just the one with all the attention. She hasn't been running well this year, and many didn't expect her to even qualify for the Olympics. She has been battling injuries recently, including one that required spinal cord surgery a year ago. I don't want to take anything away from her, though. I think she is the American record holder (maybe just indoor, though), and a pretty cool person with a great work ethic (through what I see of her in interviews, etc.). She was the favorite in Beijing and had that terrible stumble on the next-to-last hurder (she was the leader at that time). So, it's been all about her getting her redemption. |

See, that makes sense - and it was hype. I wish I could recall what it was. It might have been an NBC trailer/teaser and I'm almost SURE it said "America's best chance at Gold in the hurdles". |

Seattle | Subject: RE: Lolo Jones Yeah everyone pretty much covered it. She had a lot of hype but not hype to win or even be America's best chance at gold. She would have had to run her best race ever to win. She's got a good story and then continued the drama (and makings for a continued good story) with what happened in Beijing. 4th is still a great finish, considering everything. I mean, back surgery? Geeze. Also, honestly, she looks smoking hot doing it so I welcome the hype with open arms |

So much positive energy coming from those ladies. Sally Pearson's reaction to the gold should be in the dictionary under "why do you do this?" I think Track and Field is a place where 2nds and 3rds are usually pretty happy. I mean these things are decided by thousandths... In some head-to-head sports, 3rd is better than 2nd because you had to win your last fight/match/event to get the medal. I hated 2nds in wrestling tournaments, but loved beating someone to get my 3rd place.

Makes sense. I was just saying in general that I would be thrilled to be in the Olympics and especially to be a contender for a medal. But then again, I'm a pretty bad athlete lol |
