But really though, isn't it far crazier to use the term marathon in reference to sitting n a couch and watching several hours of a single tv show in a row? The term marathon has been diluted plenty, but the problem lies outside endurance sports, not within it. |

swim 10k and come back and tell me you don't feel that was worse then running a marathon Yeah! After the last 10k I swam I almost couldn't drink beer the rest of the day because my arms were so sore! I honestly had trouble lifting a glass to my lips. :D Tragic! So much worse than having trouble negotiating measly stairs! :D |

In terms of sheer exhaustion, the swim takes a much harder toll on my body than a 13.1 mile run. I must admit however that part of it may be that I am a much better swimmer than runner so effort may be part of the difference as well.  |

Champion 8766 Evergreen, Colorado | Subject: RE: 10K Marathon Swim???? If properly trained I won't even be sore after a 10k. I did my first 10k in 2006...it was a Saturday. I ran the Boulder 70.3 the next day...swam my third fastest HIM time and almost PR'd the HIM (if I hadn't flatted on the bike I would have). But I can barely walk the day after a marathon even if I'm well trained. So, I think the running marathon is WAY harder on your body. But it is a good comparison in terms of training time/effort. |
