Subject: RE: Mooseman or Rev3 Quassy Pretty sure Mooseman is done completely, including next year (2013). Quassy is a very good race. And the hills are definitely a challenge. I actually did not find the hills on the bike as hard as had been described, but rather there are so many of them that it just slows you down. Don't mistake that for "easy" though. I trained for very hard hills throughout the winter & spring, getting up to the toughest local ones I could find. 4,000 ft in a HIM bike is no joke. There seems to be only 2-3 miles of flat ground if you add it all together. And this is not just a slug fest to get over. You have to negotiate things all over as these are definitely the tighter, twisting New England roads. They keep it interesting. Time just flew by for me. The run is also a challenge. No consistency on any of the hills, so never a chance to get a rhythm. The big hill on the far side of the lake is a killer. If you're up for a big challenge, this is a very good race to do. It's one I'm planning to go back to more so than others. |
