I don't want to keep bringing that 6 page thread back to the front, and it has such a negative title, so here's a positive update....

I picked up the bike from Fred last Tuesday. My bike shop closed Wednesday, I took it in Thursday to get a tuneup, and order a new tire to match my one remaining old one. I picked up my bike yesterday and took it for a spin on a rail trail last night.

The Doughboy is back in business. This community rocks.

Great stuff.  Enjoy the ride, and may it be a constant reminder of the extreme acts of generosity that people have in them.  May the wind be ever at your back!

BT is awesome...no doubt the best community around.

But don't sell yourself short, either...a huge part of why so many people jumped forward to offer their help is because of who YOU are and what you represent on this site.  You've been a big inspiration not just to "overstuffed" beginners like me, but to many accomplished athletes who love following your perseverence, message and faith through this journey.

I'm sharing this story (and your blog post summarizing the whole story) with a ton of my friends and family this week...don't be suprised if your WordPress hit count starts climbing!  This is why we LOVE the tri community in general, and BT in particular!!!

Dead on IME.

The much bigger story here is not that someone gave you a bike, but rather that Andy has influenced so many/inspired that a litany of folks offered him bikes and wheels etc.

Andy I hope you realize that you've put far more into this site than you've received!

PS: Green tires????

Very well put and awesome to see Andy back on the road.

I was just discussing the awesomeness of the tri community last night with my gf, people giving up goggles and things like that.  She told me how a friend of hers found herself in T1 and her sunglasses were missing.  After she made a comment another triathlete near her that wasn't able to continue pulled her Oakleys off her helmet and handed them over.  When she inquired how she would find her after to return them the person simply said, "no worries.  In the triathlon community it all comes back around."
