Andy I hope you realize that you've put far more into this site than you've received!

Nailed it.  This story couldn't have happened to a better BT member.  Ride the hell out of that beautiful blue machine, Andy! (I've got a 2009 2.1 myself...there's just something about that Trek blue...)

Andy, I agree that there is a reason so many people came forward to help you.

Train hard my friend...you'll have a lot of eyes on you at B2B.

What a great community. Whoever said the internet was a cold and impersonal medium never visited BT.

Now, about those green tires...

WOW. I just spent the better part of my lunch hour reading through all of this. That'll teach me to take a vacation. I am truly touched again by all of you, by the kindness and caring that is shown, by the willingness to help others and by the inspiration you all continue to bring!

Thank you all.

BT is awesome...no doubt the best community around.

But don't sell yourself short, either...a huge part of why so many people jumped forward to offer their help is because of who YOU are and what you represent on this site.  You've been a big inspiration not just to "overstuffed" beginners like me, but to many accomplished athletes who love following your perseverence, message and faith through this journey.

I'm so glad you're rolling again doughboy Smile

If it's any help, I am willing to donate/buy you some straps so your new Blue Beauty doesn't fall off the back of your car/truck?

Inspiration for my next race is provided by: doughboy and the entire BT community!

If anyone can tell me how to Format paragraphs on an ipad, I would love to know.Heck yeah green tires! The now gone raleigh was black with lime green trim. That's where the original tire came from. Then the question was whether to replace one tire with a plain one, and have one odd green tire, or get a green one for a set. (The tires on the trek are a nice racing set, but I'm still worried about girth, and Fred thout I might want to replace them for now.)And I have already replaced the rack. The old rack is going in my garage or office as a way to keep bikes off the floor. The new rack is a yakima with a far superior strapping system. Not that it matters, but the red rack is almost a dead-on match for the car.10 mile ride the first night, 20 yesterday using it for a work related commute. Ran 8 today, so tomorrow i will ride again. 10k rail run Saturday, half mary next week, then bike all day until B2B.
