Subject: Another New Texan!!
Hey everyone. Just joined a few weeks ago. Started my training on May 31st. I am training for my 1st sprint triathlon. October1st in McKinney. Training is going well. I am doing the couch to the finish line training plan... Only frustrating thing is that I did this hoping to lose weight and that hasn't happened.

Anybody know about a training group that I might join up with?? I live in Arlington, TX.

Welcome to BT! We have a bunch of folks in the DFW area, but being down here in Houston myself I can't tell you about any training groups...

Congrats on getting started, however! Hope to see you, as they say, at the races.

Welcome aboard. I'm sure you can find a local group in the area without any problems, I'm in the austin area so not familiar with where you are at.
Once again welcome.

Welcome to BT! I had the the same problem the first two months I started to Couch to sprint training program. I kept waiting for my weight to drop and it didn't, but I could tell my clothes were getting looser. Then all of a sudden my weight started going down, and I have so far lost 16lbs. Just give it time it will happen.

Welcome aboard Texan. You should begin to see at least a pound a week drop off and thats if you are going 5 to 6 sessions a week. Also look at getting rid of anything with Highfructosecornsyrup. Unnatural preservative in everything now. Check out the nutrition forum too. Good luck.

Welcome from Houston. I am sure you should be able to find a training group there in Arlington. Post in the Texas forum and someone should be able to help you out. Good luck with the loosing weight. It will come.

This is off topic from the original post, but I had a question about HFCS. I know very little about what to watch for and often read what other people are saying about it. I came across one that was trying to get people to get a protein drink with HFCS becuse it can get to the liver quicker espically right after work out. Again I know very little about this, just curious what you think about it since you were talking about it.

Thanks

Body measurements!  Take all your body measurements and track them as you go.  I too, was slow to lose the weight at first but my body started changing right away.  I generally took measurements once a week for the first couple of months, now only about once a month.  The changes were extraordinary!  I lost two dress sizes in three months.

Welcome to BT!

Welcome to BT!  I live in Dallas and I usually train by myself, but I hear the Richardson Bike Mart rides are really great (they have several locations:   www.bikemart.com)

Are you doing the Stonebridge Ranch Tri?  It was my first tri ever (last year's) and i LOVED it.  It is a great race, and I am doing it again this year.  Good luck with the training and good luck with losing weight
