Total Time = 2h 10m 32s
Overall Rank = 295/303

Age Group Rank = 22/26
Pre-race routine:

Ate a peanut butter and jam sandwich along with a banana. Slowly got ready and tried to relax.
Event warmup:

n/a - though we did test the water
Swim
  • 15m 25s
  • 500 meters
  • 03m 05s / 100 meters
Comments:

Yeesh! Went badly off course! Continually felt like I wasn't moving.
What would you do differently?:

Practice in open water!
Transition 1
  • 07m 40s
Comments:

Had a bit of trouble getting on my bike and going the right direction. Was feeling a bit down after the pool swim finish.
What would you do differently?:

Not much
Bike
  • 1h 09m 13s
  • 25 kms
  • 21.67 km/hr
Comments:

Felt good but clearly wasn't going fast enough. Had some trouble passing people. Hurt toe badly on the ride which was a bit of a problem.
What would you do differently?:

Get more aggressive about passing people rather than just pacing behind them.
Transition 2
  • 02m 21s
Comments:

Toe was pretty sore in transition. Spent a bit of time messing around with my shoes trying to make the pain go away.
What would you do differently?:

Not break a toe
Run
  • 35m 55s
  • 5 kms
  • 07m 11s  min/km
Comments:

Toe was sore and spent the first KM trying to adjust my shoe and fix it. Eventually, I gave up on that and did a run/walk combo.
What would you do differently?:

Needed to get my head inline. I kept talking myself out of running because I thought I should be too tired to run. I could totally have run more but I just didn't want to (though some of that may have been the pain).
Post race
Warm down:

Not much, kids met us and we were instantly back to being parents.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Broken toe

Event comments:

The volunteers for this race were exceptional!
