Subject: RE: 100 runs in 100 days

csikes - 2012-09-13 11:42 PM I'm currently on day 109 of what started out as a Runner's World summer challenge to run at least a mile a day. Some days it sucks to go and not just be able to take a complete rest day but overall I think it's been a good decision. Since starting the streak, I think I've become more aware of what I'm feeling each day in terms of what kind of soreness or pain is in my legs. I also haven't bailed on a scheduled run since starting. I'm faster and feel better overall.

THAT'S what I'm really hoping for.  I tend to run through soreness and pain and I don't think I can do it anymore at 52.  My idea to do this is to keep a high frequency but a lower volume while I figure out the tipping point for injury....something I've really never had to deal with.  This year was hard on me.  I have battled ITBS and PF for most of the year.  My miles at 510 for the year represent a pretty good fight from me. Even though it's much lower than I have done the last few years, it's been MUCH harder. (my logs for last year only represent the last 2 or 3 months when I started to log)

I'm pain free right now after ~20 runs in the last 6 weeks, for the first time in 6 months, so I'm going to give it a go.

Do you want to start with a 30/30?  I will do it with you.  2 mile / 20 min minimum.  We can make it a team adventure.

I'm looking to build my run endurance...want to build slowly but I have all winter since it rains in my neck of the woods.  No OWS or bikes for a few months.

Yep.....let's go.

I'm keeping the 4 I've got now if that's ok.....but if I don't break down over 30 then those 4 won't matter because I'll keep going.

My idea right now is to keep all of them in the 2-3 range with an occasional 4 thrown in.  I'll probably end up with most of them on a treadmill as well since I can control things better while I'm still gun-shy over the PF.

Sound ok?

I'm still going to swim 3 or 4 times per week.....maybe a bike per week on the trainer just for the hell of it.

It's on like Donkey Kong!  Let's start a new thread - and anyone else who wants to join us can.  We can update that thread with our experiences - since neither of us has done this before - might help others considering it.

My day 1 will start today.  My "normal" runs will probably be in the 4-5 mile range...I will throw in some 3-4 milers (Nice route across a bridge where I live)....not going to worry to much about long runs right now.

This is going to be cool!  Can't wait to see how it affects my running.

didn't realize that.  I'm starting with 30 runs in 30 days - but depending on how I feel at the end - might continue the streak.

I started my 9 year old 2 years ago on the 100 day run.  She did it on the treadmill and kept a calander on the fridge.  She is 11 1/2 now and maybe has missed 20 days over the past 2.5 years.  IT's nothing really long and she does not like running on the road,  However it worked evryday she does at least 1 hour on the treadmill.
