Somehow I lost 10 days somewhere, I started on Oct. 21 of last year, had to go back and check. So #334 is accurate. I was going back through the thread and found this though.

"navbtcret - 2012-11-14 4:48 PM Day 358 with a painful 5.6 mile run. My left hip area, the front near my pelvis is just killing me. I am too close to a year to not run, so it is ice after each run and hope it gets better."

Way to pull through that injury, and still going almost a year later. I am just coming off my calf strain and still going, looks like I will be ok, ran absolutely pain free today.

I may go back and read through the entire thread after I get past a year, it could be interesting. Just about a month to go...

#337- 18 mi. 7:46 min/mi pace. Still not feeling a 3:10 marathon in 2 months, but I guess we will see. Calf feels good. Will keep pushing myself over the next few weeks provided I can keep myself intact.

That is a solid run!  Glad your calf is better :)

Gentlemen, I'm out again.  My ankle (an ankle I have previously broken in multiple places) started screaming at me on Friday, and I'm afraid there is something really wrong.  Haven't run in three days and I won't be running for a while based on the way this feels.  Trying to be smart, not usually my strength...best of luck to all of you and your streaks.  Hopefully I'll be back (again) at some point.

So sorry to hear this. I hope you can get back soon.

I have issues too but I will try to continue to try and run through it. I think I may have a stress fracture in my right foot, I had one in my left foot 4 years ago and this kind of feels the same but different too if that makes sense. It has been bothering me for over a week but I still ran the marathon yesterday despite it. I did manage a 3:31:07 on a very sore foot the was day 668 and my garmin had me at 26.36 miles.

Today day 669 1.25 miles to keep the streak alive plus I had to leave early to get back home for my mother in laws 70th birthday party. I will cut my mileage back for the next week or to and treat it with ice and hopefully it will get better. I have 4 more marathons I have already paid for with the last one being on the 9th of November. I have the doubles coming up in two weeks and I WILL run them if I have to do it in a cast.

My shirt went over well plus I also had my beard and mustache dyed red, white and blue for this marathon and plan to have it touched up before the Marine Corps marathon and the Soldiers marathon. The beard was a real hit. If I can figure out how to post a photo here I will get one up of the dye job. The family thinks I am crazier than ever now, so does the saloon that dyed it but they had a blast doing it.

Day 55 - 2 miles too early in the morning.
Day 56 - about 7 miles, but the back half of it was all walking.

I'm experiencing issues of my own. I'm thinking it is mostly fatigue from increasing my mileage a little too quickly coupled with being a little drained from the rest of my life. I should have been on a 10 miler today, but even though I was rolling pretty slow, I just couldn't hack it. I am proud of myself for actually bailing out rather than pushing through it, which I would have done if it was anything other than a run. Hopefully my body catches up a little bit in the next week. Still 50/50 on that HM in a month.

Thanks Ron.  I have never had a stress fracture, but I'm actually a little concerned about that possibility.

I hope, hope, hope, you're OK!  Running with a cast?!?  That is a level of hardcore that I don't possess.  Four marathons between here and November 9th is a lot.  You are a machine.  I hope you can stay well-oiled;)

Look, I HAVE to see a pic of your beard.  Please?!?  That is completely awesome. You're my kinda people, Ron.

Excellent marathon time, btw.  I know you'll get that <3:20.  I bet by next year with a rest and a taper that a 3:10 will be well within reach.

Run #365. short recovery run today after a big weekend.
31 miles on Saturday followed by 10 on Sunday.
Little lower back pain during the 50K, I think my ankle is rolling in a little in the Hokas. One more long run before the 50 mile, think I will run that in my Brooks to see how that feels.

Lumber Dad- solid weekend. I've been wearing Hokas recently, and I feel no roll, almost not enough "give" side to side, sort of like I have a piece of plywood strapped to the bottom of the shoe. I used to wear the Brooks ghost series, and they were great, but I went through them pretty quick. 300 or so miles and I already felt that they were losing support. If the 50k was a trail run, the uneven surface could make your lower back hurt.

Also...1 year!!! Awesome accomplishment. I suggest you stop now while you sort of have a reason. I feel once you get past the 1 year, it sort of goes into the "ok now what?" realm, you just keep going till when??? Death?? That said, I probably will be doing run 366 myself soon, so take the advice with a grain of salt.

Switch- sorry to see you out, you bring life to this thread. Have a good recovery, and hope to see you back.

Navbtcret- I get sticking to the streak, but your heavy race schedule as well?? I would question your sanity if I didn't already know the answer. And congrats on the race as well.

#338- 2 mile recovery. Absolutely no stiffness/soreness, and the weather was awesome. I wanted to keep going.

Nice mileage and congrats on making it one year. Are you doing a 50 mile race and if so which one?

I have done some more research on my foot pain and I believe it is tendonitis and not a stress fracture. It is a bit different from when I had a stress fracture so I went out and bought a new pair of shoes other than my Zoots. The Zoots are one piece with no tongue so you can not loosen them much at all and they recommend that you loosen your laces a bit when running with this issue.

Day 670 today and I made it 4.4 miles with some pain but not near like it has been the last week or so. Gives me hope it will heal up soon.

Not a doc, but usually they say if you can hop on it, that it is probably not a stress fracture. And does it get worse the longer you run on it, or is it really sore at first and sort of work itself out a bit?

I would ice and elevate after every run, rest it as much as possible between runs, and do the bare minimum for a few days. Your base huge, a few days going real easy wont hurt a thing. I am sure 5 miles is going real easy for you, but 1 to 2 miles would be easier!!

#339- 8 mi with 10 x 100 m strides
