I always just mix one bottle that will last all ride and take little sips every so often.  the other bottle is pure water for drinking, head, face, etc.

I use the course as an emergency (dropped my fuel bottle) option.

Since you have your own mix you may want to do this.  Control your own density... I mean destiny.

CoolYell COme on! when do all the joKes and scaRcasm start around here??InnocentFoot in mouth

its only a half...hahahahaha

I've never had the Perform made from powder, only from the bottles at races, but I would assume it is about the same difference as when you buy a Gatorade in a bottle and use the Gatorade powder to mix your own.  You could always buy a bottle at the store to check for yourself.  The bottles at the aid stations usually have twist top lids, which are nice, but I think the bottles I've seen in the stores are just normal lids.

Yea starting to notice the chip seal all over the place since I got my TT bike here in STG.  It wasn't that bad on my old tank of a road bike but on my new lighter bike in aero man can I feel that chip and it sucks.

I normally run 808's but have a 404 for a front wheel on windy days. I'm thinking of going with the 404 on the front for this race given the potential for wind. Thoughts?

I live here in St.George and have an 808 and an ENVE 45. I ride on the course every Saturday and I never sport the 808. Just never know when and where you might get rocked by a gust.

I've gotten some race logistic questions from a couple friends who are doing it.  Sometimes the athlete guide can be confusing.

Anyone have any questions about bike drop or bags or shuttling?

Don't want to sound like a know it all but want to help if I can

I am not a local, but close enough to know the area.  Did the full in 2010 and have run the St. George Marathon a few times.  Given those experiences and the course I would not run an 808 either.  Don't have all the answers, but if it were me I wouldn't run those based on course and the potential for nasty winds.  Look foward to racing with all of you guys.

All the long workouts are in and time to taper!

Anybody start a pool on how the weather will turn out? I've heard stories of it being cold one year, HOT the next, and then major winds last year. Does this mean that it's the year for "Perfect" weather? 70 degrees and tailwinds the whole way???

Taper starts next week and I'm racing a 10k this saturday looking for a sub 48 min. for the first time in about 10 years....I know....I'm slow.

I don't kknow about you guys but I'm getting excited. I'm really looking forward to this event and I absolutely love the race atmosphere at events. I've also heard IM puts on some fantastic events and the energy around them are great. Anyone have any experience with WTC?

I'm stoked to see all the pros there also! They may not be famous to everyone else in the world but they are to me! Plus I get to see Mr. T...I pity the fool who drafts off me!

A question about wave starts:

Do they have each wave swim to a start line...tread water then start? Or is it a mad dash off the beach?

As of yesterday, the Utah.gov showed Sand Hollow water temp of 50 degrees. Whoa - can that be right?

Yep, it can be and most likely is. It was not much warmer in 2010. If they get a slew of days of hot weather it 'can' warm up fairly quickly.

I hope it's a typo, I just checked this page a week ago and it said it was 58.  I guess it all depends on where they measure the water at though.

50 degrees? Holy Smokes.

I might have to find me some COLD water this weekend. Or just deal with it come race day.

Damn Gina!

1. There is no such thing as perfect weather in St. George.  It will be windy, just depends on how much.  It's looking like a hot one too.

2.  It's a deep water tread start if they do what they did the last 3yrs.  The start is very close to shore.  It's a diffrent swim course but the area isn't set up for a mad dash from shore because there isn't really a shore.  Plan on deep water or waist deep.

3.  Sand hallow website said 57 as of a couple days ago.  It was 54 last week.  Don't be fooled by other websites because they will measure deep in the lake for fishing or diving purposes.

Water was super cold the first year because they filled the resevoir with fresh freezing cold water a couple days before.  It will probably be 59-61

It's going to be awesome!!

...or I'm an a$$ because I just checked several website and they all said 50deg water temp.  Maybe they just filled the res.  It's been hot though.  It will warm up a bit.

Amen to that!

My swim wave is Wave 7...which means I am going to be getting passed by fast athletes from later waves all day...I think this is going to be my biggest challenge. I am a very competitive person and I'm going to have to control the impulse to try to keep up on the bike and run with the faster athletes passing me. I'll have to find a way to disconnect that.

My first 70.3.  My last was shortened due to extreme heat (2012 Muncie 70.3) Considering the hills in UT, should I bother with an aero-bar setup on my road bike?
