Subject: Anyone doing the Marco Island Tri?
So I was thinking about it, and it's an excuse to make the 3 hr drive over there as I haven't been before. It looks like the run is on the beach?! It says hard packed sand. Hmmm. Has anyone done this? Is it packed enough so that it's almost like running on asphalt and you run in shoes? Or is it more like beach run. I hate running in the sand.

I would plan on it being like running in the sand... I have never noticed particularly hard-packed sand on Marco Island, I imagine it is just running near the edge of the water; When I did Longboat Key a few years ago the second half was that way and it wasn't awful, but certainly not like running on asphalt.
