Subject: Hi I'm new
Only just started training and am already completetly shattered. I've got a running background (up to marathons) and would like to keep my running speed. However trying to run 4 days a week as well as cycle to work and swim is tiring me out. Any advice would be very welcome.

Lisa

Welcome Lisa! You'll find a lot of encouragement and help on this site. It is tough and tiring sometimes to fit in all the training; however, don't be too worried about your running fitness if you can't fit the 4 days a week in with everything else. The swimming and, particularily, the biking will pick up the slack and you'll actually find you're running faster with less overall mileage than you did with just running. Above all, give yourself a rest day (or two) every week and you'll be good to go. Good luck and have fun.

Welcome. This is a great spot to get advice, learn, and to mingle with the gods of the sport (that would not be me, by the way).

Hi.. and welcome. I was running almost everyday before starting tri training and found it hard to cut back on my regular running. I did though, and have found biking and swimming to be good workouts as well. It is a mental thing I think. Plus, once you start doing bricks your running will work itself into the tri program nicely.

Good luck with your training and listen to your body!!!

cut your run downs to 3x/week for now.  u can get away with biking 2x week - 3x is better of course (which will complemement your running to some extent) - thats 5-6 days of leg work...LET THEM REST!  swimming about 2-3x week.  get a full day of rest.

if u start biking and swimming 2x week and running 3x, GET USED TO THAT FIRST.  then you can bike and swim 3x a week for better performance.

good luck and welcome.

MAKE SURE U ARE GETTING ENOUGH FOOD.  FEED YOUR BODY 5-6 TIMES PER DAY.

I agree with ron, if your tired and a good nights rest doesn't help then your overtraining, you have to strike a balance and not be afriad to give up some of the time devoted to one of the sports welcome to the site and good luck with your goals
