“I’m out!”
Peter the Great retires from triathlon

By Cameron Elford

June 19, 2006 -- Ironman great Peter Reid, from Canada, has decided to retire from triathlon, after a decade-long career that included 10 Ironman wins, with three Ironman world titles. After struggling with his motivation in training throughout the winter and spring, Reid made the decision to walk away in late May, although he postponed making any official announcement until he had been able to notify his sponsors.

Nice article - great triathlete - I imagine it must be very hard to choose to retire from being a professional athlete.

Maybe he will race as an age-grouper now and be in the same waves as us. It is sad to see him go but I don't think this is the last that we will see of him in triathlons. Congrats on the retirement Peter.

One thing that I find funny is that he is retiring from triathlons and I can't wait to retire so I can only do triathlons, the world is a funny place.
