Hi, all. I live just south of Tucson. We have a lovely pool that has always been open year round. Now that I have started swimming, they have decided to shut it down for an unknown amount of time (yes, I am a bit bitter). Can anyone recomend a pool that is open year round and not too far north up in Tucson. Thanks so much.

Hi, desertchica. My suggestion is to look at this website if you haven't already. http://cms3.tucsonaz.gov/parksandrec/aquatics.php I don't know how far you are from the U of A, but maybe their master's program would be an option. Are there any Y's near you? Good luck!

I swim at the Fred Archer Center on La Cholla.  However, that will close on Veteran's day and open again in April.

During that time I go to Sunnyside School.  They are open in the winter and heated.  Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies. Sunnyside is the closest option for me. How is the area? Dh is a little concerned about that part of town. Lol. I have been looking at the U of A as an option too. Not sure if I am ready to try a masters program yet though. Thanks again for the tips!

Bring your bulletproof vest and you should be safe with us on the South Side.  ha ha.  I actually used to live just south of Sunnyside.  It could be a little 'active' at night, but during the day you shouldn't run into any trouble...especially going to the school and back.

I just got back from a swim at Sunnyside. Didn't get shot! Dh works with a fellow triathlete who has swam at Sunnyside and told him it's no big deal. The water was nice and cool. So nice. The pool I had been swimming at had just turned on the heat and it was too warm. Yuck. Thanks again for the tips.

I'll be going over to Sunnyside in a week!  Good to hear that the water was nice.

Was it crowded?  What time were you there?

I went at about 11:45 yesterday and again today. Nobody there when I get there. A few people start to trickle in after a bit. Does it get busy as other pools close for the winter?

No, not too bad, just wondering if it had picked up yet.  Of course my pool still has another week open before I shift over.  Today at lunch there were only 4 of us lap swimmers...so I can't imagine Sunnyside is going to get much busier...I guess you never know.

Thanks!
