Nice shot!

Combine your hooters with your hummers and you've really got something there.

I mean, you could start a gallery.

Ah likez yore Hooterz.

Your desert park pics, esp. the birds, reminds me of the Air Show at the Healesville Sanctuary outside of Melbourne. Really kindled a new interest in birds of prey for me.

Awesome pics!!  Looking further down in your blog I noticed and enjoyed the leaves on water pic.  How did you get that effect?

Thank you!  That is a process I've sort of coined as my own using a few different effects in Photoshop.  It's pretty easy to do .. I should make a quicky PS tutorial on it since others have asked.

Oh and that owl .. only weighs TWO pounds.  So if your kitty goes missing .. you cannot blame that owl!

Two Pound Hooters! We have a Wildlife sanctuary near our house, so we've seen the Great Horned Owl up close and personal.  Very cool.

Somehow I knew this thread was going to the birds when I saw the title and the OP...

Very funny, and both pictures have been very cool.

I was camping out at Tucson Mountain park last week and saw an owl perch on a telephone pole for about 15 minutes.  It was pretty cool.

However, your picture is much better than what I saw.

Healsville sanctuary, wow there is a blast from the past. When I was a kid it was like 3 enclosures with a moth eaten roo, and a few birds. It is now, however, a super place to go (it is a shame more tourists do not know how amazing a place it is).

Australia really does rock, every year my mum and dad have a family of 4 - 8 owl's set up residence in the tree above the family pool. They sit about 6 to 8 feet from where we eat dinner, and if we leave scraps, they come down and eat off our table. All this about 1/2 mile from the city centre, every year for the last decade or so. We look forward to them every year (they will be due any day now).

My wife snagged a shot of a red tail hawk sitting on one of the supports for our clothes line.  Two days later, he was back, and she snagged another.

We live in a pretty rural area, so we get snakes, birds, opossums, racoons, and even the occasional deer.  I think the deer avoid the place... they know I want to eat them.

As for Teejaay's blog... WONDERFUL blog.  I think I'm going to try some of the workouts she posts, someday.  Oh... and I pretty much always pause for the post-mammogram photo.  There's just something about that photo that I enjoy.  ;-)
