Chris Tree - 2006-06-21 8:51 AMHopefully we got some pics, my folks were snapping away! We got to get them all together though! For the next one I propose to use proper food, maybe even a basket on the front of my bike!

You could put wiskars underneath the areobars, kind of like on the bow of a sailboat.

Put your food in there and you would not even look that silly!

Sounds like it was a VERY tough course, Chris.. and you did great! Don't compare yourself to other peoples' half iron times - each course is very different. Despite the panicking in the swim, you did a solid race, and you should be proud of what you've accomplished.

Congratulations!!

Hey Chris,

Congratulations!  Great race and report.  That sounded like one hard race and you should be proud of a great performance.  We always remember the tough courses/races and the effort it took to complete the race.  So, you should have no trouble remembering this one.

I'm surprised that the race was so unorganized at the beginning.  Usually that's the Ironman claim to fame, well organized events.  There's no excuse for having bikes stolen or not giving people a chance to warm up.  Too bad about your bike.  It must take a lot of effort to break the tube like that.  I'm sure it was some hot tri chick that stole your Flip Flops.

Once again, Way to go.

WTG Chris!

I love this line:
Only do 10K's from mow on!!!

Fantastic. Join the club.

Your race went very well. Your time on the bike was stellar and even better considering all of the hills. It sucks about your frame though. I wonder when that happened. I guess it's good that you didn't discover it until after the ride otherwise you would have been thinking about it the whole time.

Well done Chris! Awesome report for a difficult race.

Course sounds horrible but I liked the fry up at the local pub as a warm down.

I'm planning to do a 70.3 this coming Summer (it's Winter down here right now!) so I've been reading with great interst people's race reports. I'm a bit nervous about the swim so it's alwayys good to hear of  people who have freaked a bit then got their sh1t under control and been able to finish. I think that'll be me too! The water temp was cold - did that have much effect?

Tough course, my friend, and you did well.  Great speed on everything, even with hills.

KNow what?  Save your leftover powergels for your next HIM

You crazy brits.

hehe.

The visual I have right now is of a bunch of Englishmen in tuxedos jumping on their bikes and just biffing it into the shrubs, like something out of Monty Python.

Sad that I didn't stay in country long enough to do this race...maybe someday, like when my immigration papers get processed.

You rock! That was such an inspiring race report!  You had a really tough course and you did it! You're a 1/2 Ironman!  Nice work!

I teared u p a bit at the part about your Dad. My dad came to my race yesterday and drove the entire course and stopped every 5 miles on the bike to cheer me on. He then saw me 3x on the run and ran a mile with me. I felt as if I really made him proud and it meant so much to have him there. I am sure your Dad would have felt the same way...he just got the best view in the house from up above!

Great effort Chris.  That course sounds absolutely brutal.  I giggled when you talked about "Justin".  I can just see you cursing under your breath. After all that abuse you had to battle him for the finish! You shoulda pushed him in the hedgerow.  I love that Brit term. Reminds me of Led Zep.

I was about to head out the door for an LSD run this morning, but after reading your run portion I feel like I just did it already.

You deserve a huge pat on the back mate! Well done, and I really commend you for pushing yourself to get through it.  Those hills suck big time, and you completly proved to yourself how tough you really are. Congratulations Chris!!! Didn`t you have a beer at the pub? Gotta love pub food, love a counter lunch or 2.

Well done again, look fw to those finish line pics.
