Subject: Tri-ing in Georgia I came upon beginner-triathlete looking for a few articles on swimming, and I have to tell you this site totally rocks.
Started out in November last year with an awesome personal trainer and no other goal than to just lose a few lbs. He's a triathlete, and one of my life goals was to do a triathlon but I thought that was far out of reach. As I started hitting plateaus we began to crosstrain, including a not so fun introduction to the pool and endurance swimming. I finished my first sprint triathlon ever in April about mid-pack, which surprised even me. I also lost 60lbs along the way and feel like a totally new person.
It's much harder since my PT has moved away, to keep pushing myself to do better. My second sprint triathlon at the first of the month was a testament to that. Although I finished about mid-pack again…. my swimming really hurt my time (because I let up on my swim training ). I've got 3 more sprints planned for the summer so we'll see how much I can improve that swim time.
I do enjoy the sport though, it's so much fun. The camaraderie is awesome too!
Cheers
