What are your plans for the 4th? How do you mark the anniversary of independence for the USofA? I'm taking my boys camping for the weekend in Northwest Georgia. We'll drive to Chattanooga Sunday to hang out at the Aquarium and watch the fireworks that night.

I think we're going to head to my brother's in NJ and catch the USO show at Fort Dix.  We did that last year and it was a great show.  But I confess, my real reason for going to bro's is because he is 30 miles from the Elite Bicycle shop in Philly.  I wanna drool over the custom tri bike I can't afford (or ride) right now.  I know, I know, purely evil

It's a family weekend for me on the 4th. We're going out on the boat & skiing on the 3rd with my wife's family. On the 4th we go over to my parents for a big cookout and family gathering. I'm from a family of 10 children and when we all get together with our families and spouses and whoever else wants to come we have a small colony and it's quite fun.....crowded but fun.

If you happen to find yourself in Northern Illinois on the 4th, my band Mr. Big Stuff will be playing at a festival in Winnebago, IL. Come on out and party with the area's best rock 'n' roll horn band.

My cousin has a big party at his place and we are there all day. All of my family will be there plus about a 100 other people I don't know. Last year a bunch of us played golf in the am then went to the party but I don't know if we are doing that this year.

We were going to go down to the cottage for Friday and Saturday but my wife has to work now instead.

My brother-in-law has invited us to his land in upstate NY.  We'll have a family picnic and hopefully see some fireworks.

I'm with you Mike!  I'd like to do a long bike ride too!

The 3rd is my birthday and my daughter's birthday (a beautiful bday gift I received 2 years ago), so we have extra stuff to celebrate!

The 4th is my birthday too. I turn 21. I'm thinking about riding a century - my first.

For the 4th, I shall indulge in some red meat cooked on the grill with friends on the deck.

After doing my morning bike ride, of course, so that I have an excuse to eat later, as uhhh, I'll need the protein!

Actually won't be celebrating too much on the 4th. Saving that for 8-13th when I go to Denver to visit my parents and younger brother ( who I haven't seen since he came back from Iraq with the 101st! ). Going to go up to the mountains around Breckenridge and do some biking/hiking and maybe camping. Yeah!

I'm going to be sitting in my driveway and calling the police on my neighbor. He is a very arrogant person who believes that he owns the street we live on. Since day one 4 years ago he has gone out of his way to tell me what he hates about me and my family. Every year he puts on a wonderful display of fireworks aimed at my house. Every year we call the police and every year he gets busted and then curses at me for the following two weeks after the 4th. He hates me because I am a police officer and he works for a trucking company. We live in a small town and I love to hear the rumors spread by the neighbors. I don't ever say a word to him. I just watch him make a fool of himself screaming when the police show up and take all of his stuff. You would think he would have learned by now.

Mike,
I can relate, we have some redneck neighbors who think it's not fun if it's not LOUD.
Why don't you and your family come out to Winnebago Il. on the 4th. My band is playing at their festival from 6-9 pm.
(more shamless self promotion).
I could tell you stories of how many times and why I call the sheriff on the knuckleheads who live in my neighborhood.

Leaving tomorrow for NH, momma's gonna drop me off and let me take a 50 mile bike ride across the Kancamagus Highway, will meet her later.  She'll do some shopping while I get in some training rides.  Gotta love vacations!

I would love to come out there but my wife so looks forward to calling the police on this guy. She actually gets more excited about this than anything else all year. I can't tear her away from her lawn chair in the front yard.

Updated my plans for the 4th. Well, the 3rd, anyway.

Stopped by LRS ( Local Runnning Shop ) and found out there is a 5k on the 3rd before the Parade. So I signed up and now I'm going to be racing. Works out just perfectly, as Saturday is a running day for me, and 5k is the distance I have to run in my next Tri coming up in 2 weeks. Yay!
