Hi,
I just found this site and thought it would be a good place to get triathlon tips. I just finished my second triathlon, a sprint today. I was pretty happy with my finish except for the swim. I practiced swimming alot but fell apart today. Any suggestions on how to swim well on race day? Thanks

Welcome to the site -- you have come to the right place for motivation and helpful tips.

As far as swimming in a race, my only suggestion is to try to not pay much attention to others around you (once you stop getting kicked) and relax. Swim your normal swim and don't worry about time. It is the shorest part of your race, you will gain the least advantage in this leg even if you are somewhat fast, and you want to save a good amount of your energy for the next two legs. You will be able to make up time in the bike and/or run depending on your strong area.

Congrats on finishing your first tri -- hope you had lots of fun.

Nancy

Welcome to the board!  As far as the swim, just hang in there.  The swim is a struggle for a lot of folks. Keep up your good work!

Welcome!  Make sure you warm up on those race days - that may help also!

Good luck

Hello and welcome! I don't have much advice about the swim, other than to relax. I know I tend to do worse and hyperventilate more if I get all worked up about the swim, so I try to just relax. I also sing the "Just Keep Swimming" song from Finding Nemo in my head, but that's not exactly a training tip.
