Here's a pic of my bike after getting it fit.  The handlebar drop + aero bars are the biggest change.  I'm kinda glad I got a smaller frame now.  It made the tri fit work.

Yeah, another Fuji Fan. I like it, nice ride. Hopefully it will warm up a bit for you and you can get it back out on the road.  I'll have to post a pic of mine after I redo the handlebar tape.  Currently I have some black stuff on it, but it will be replaced for the season with the "Kevin's Bacon" from Raleigh. Makes it easy to pick it out in a transition area. And it keeps with my personality.

Hmmm. I'd be interested only if it were scratch n' sniff.

Me, too. I've been vegetarian for a month now. I'm transitioning to vegan. Ohhhh. Cheese. :-(

ETA: But I can't say I miss bacon. I ordered a veggie/cheese omelet a few weeks ago and it came with bacon inside. I didn't notice it until I had the bacon on my fork and half way to my mouth. It is good bacon, too, at this restaurant. At first I said, Oh, well. Just eat it. But I picked it all out of my omelet. I didn't even have one taste. Will power.

Love the smell but don't eat it. Didn't eat any meat till about 4 years ago. Added fish at that point just to give me more variety... mostly when going out to eat.

a girl at squad has an autistic friend who does ironman. He said its just a long swim a long ride and a long run not that difficult! Cute!

I was having lunch yesterday with a friend, who is training for Boston, and a couple of his associates.  He and I were talking about our races and one of the associates asked if I was training for a marathon as well (I wanted to say that Boston isn't just any marathon, but I digress). My friend explained to his associate that I am doing a HIM and explained the distances. The associate said "All in one day?"

Ha!!!!!!!

What a cute question, LOL!

Back when I first started my life changing journey (originally the motivation was to lose weight).... I was doing research about different diets, and I came across a blog comment that I will never forget.  Someone wrote "Eat whatever you want, just eat 1 serving."

If you can stick to that, and count the calories, you will start to not like junk food as much, because 12 potato chips just doesn't fill you up for the calories you get counted towards your daily goal.  

Best advice I ever read.

Long ramble.

So listening to Macca podcast he had ultra runner Rich Roll as a guest - he's plant based and a vegan and does very well on it. 

I then tuned into Rich Roll podcast and he had a guest Vinnie Tortorich.

Vinnie Tortorich is GOLD!  Now he is no grains no sugar.  He has over a hundred podcasts and I am catching up.  I love this guy - he's trainer to the stars etc.  And he talks sense.  Now he doesn't condone staying in ketosis but he does himself to keep his cancer at bay.  Allegedly cancer cells are fed by sugar....

It's fascinating stuff.  Now I cannot give up bacon or meat of any kind...so I'm with Vinnie.  But I totally understand if you're with Rich Roll!

I then listened to another podcast with Rich Roll and he had a guest on who was a doctor and he said - IT ALL WORKS!!!  If you believe it and stick to it, it will work.

He said the research has all been done on regular people - not on athletes and certainly not on endurance athletes.  We need energy - we need protein and fat.  Grains meh not so much they are fillers but as endurance athletes we burn enough energy to eat them.

HM's are my thing.  I love them!  I like the distance for training too.  20-21km my fave training run from home, out and back along the beach track.  Perfect.

DH tried Ketosis with his dad when in-laws were here. It was...interesting. His dad is all or nothing kind of guy so it kind of works for him. He can't "moderate". I like my sandwiches and crackers and pizza too much to try it. We eat very simply anyway. DH eats much, much less red meat now. I try to cook it, but really have no idea how it is supposed to turn out and I won't "taste test". lol

Yep. When I'm feeling like I'm getting out of my moderation, I go back to "what's a serving?"

I agree with you, actually. Lately, however, meat has been making me feel yucky. I don't know how else to describe it. Maybe it's a sign of old age. My digestive system likes me much better if I leave it out. I figured, "Hey, if no meat makes me feel better, then maybe no animal products would make me feel even better." This is extreme for me. And hard. I love my half and half. I crave Greek yogurt. I love soft cheeses. Mmmmm. Home made French toast, heavy on the eggs.

In any case, I'll see how it goes. If I don't like it, I can always add stuff back in. I'm not doing it for ethical reasons, just health reasons.

I spent this afternoon putting out a fire that didn't actually exist - the person who pulled the alarm got his facts wrong, but before I figured that out I wasted a ton of time tracking things down, got others involved in the mess and expended energy cursing out judges ( under my breath) that didn't deserve cursing out!When I got home there was an Irish Wolfhound puppy ( with owner) walking pass my house, so I spent 15 minutes getting my fill of puppy kisses. The puppy made everything better I love Irish Wolfhounds, they are one of the breeds I would own in a heart beat if their life expectancy wasn't so short.Now back to the bacon discussion.

I'm definitely an "everything in moderation" kind of person who really tries to eat a ton of plants and avoids overly processed foods when possible.

The idea of giving up meat, however, makes me feel anxious. I have deep carnivorous roots. Sometimes I feel like a wild animal when I get meat cravings. If you have ever seen A Christmas Story, the way the dad is obsessing over the turkey, trying to eat it before it gets cooked and stuff. That's me.

An Irish Wolfhound was one of the first breeds I dealt with in my career.  He was quite sick, needed surgery and was in hospital for a few days.  I fell in love.  He was such a sweet boy.  I agree, they are great, and a puppy would be sooooooo cute!  Sorry you had such a cr@p day, but glad it ended well!

All meat, no meat, I think they have validity but it's funny that they are so different, and yet similar. I'll stick with moderation but I do focus on "real" ingredients, organic when available. I agree with you, actually. Lately, however, meat has been making me feel yucky. I don't know how else to describe it. Maybe it's a sign of old age. My digestive system likes me much better if I leave it out. I figured, "Hey, if no meat makes me feel better, then maybe no animal products would make me feel even better." This is extreme for me. And hard. I love my half and half. I crave Greek yogurt. I love soft cheeses. Mmmmm. Home made French toast, heavy on the eggs.

In any case, I'll see how it goes. If I don't like it, I can always add stuff back in. I'm not doing it for ethical reasons, just health reasons.

I'm definitely an "everything in moderation" kind of person who really tries to eat a ton of plants and avoids overly processed foods when possible.

The idea of giving up meat, however, makes me feel anxious. I have deep carnivorous roots. Sometimes I feel like a wild animal when I get meat cravings. If you have ever seen A Christmas Story, the way the dad is obsessing over the turkey, trying to eat it before it gets cooked and stuff. That's me. 

Heh.  And then the bloodhounds come in.  Two of them look like they are for real fighting in that scene.  I always wonder how they broke it up....

Ah of course you remember the dogs! Yeah, that's an amazing fight! Doesn't one of their tails get slammed in the door too?

"No turkey! No turkey sandwiches! No turkey salad! No turkey gravy! Turkey Hash! Turkey a la King! Or gallons of turkey soup! Gone, ALL GONE!"
