Subject: Promotion wetsuit fit...question

Ok...I absolutely hate my Ironman full wetsuit - so came home from my swim today and ordered a Promotion sleeveless (great BT discount)....My question is on fit (for those that own these wetsuits), after giving the cs agent my measurements, he suggested a size 6 for me - but when I look at the sizing on the website - I probably would have ordered the 8.  I carry most of my weight in my hips - but he seemed to think it was more important to make sure the top fit correctly...so I went with his advice.

So my question is...if you fell between sizes - and went with the smaller size - were you happy with the fit??  I'm just wondering if I should have ordered both, and then sent back the one that didn't fit.

I've gone with the bigger size and have not been happy.  I learned to listen to them when ordering, they know what they're doing.  You can always send it back if you're not happy with it.

So what do you not like about the IM suit?

We bought two of them a month or so ago - one for myself, and one for a co-worker.  The guy at the other end of the phone knew what he was talking about, both fit really well.

Good luck,

Dennis

Agree with the former posts.  I ordered mine based on the charts on the web site and it ended up being a little too big.  Called customer service to discuss how it should fit and after about 25 minutes of discussing my measurements (I was between not only sizes but some question regarding whether I should stay standard sizes or go with a short version) and how the suit should fit they recommended a smaller size that fit perfect.   Other thing I found is it was a little looser once wet.

they also say that if you fall into different sizes because of height and weight differences, that you should go by weight.  I've found this to be true with several different brands, not just ProMotion.

I have two Promtion suits and they run bigger than others.....most brands if in doubt go up but for the women's line of Promotion I think it goes the other way.

Last one I ordered, they sent two and let me try them on and decide. I didn't have a lot of time if it didn't fit to send it back and get another.

I need to get another as I have lost weight and mine is getting to big....not a bad problem to have. I love my Promotion suit! I have never gotten chaffed by it.

So what do you not like about the IM suit?

I don't like the constricting feeling of the arms.  The wetsuit fits fine, but my arms really feel like they are working more than they should in the full.

 Does that make sense?

I was inbetween sizes and went with the smaller size for Promotion (full). Good tight fit but better fit in the water. But... I don't like the restriction of my arms. Feels like I have to really use more energy to stroke so now I'm going to get a sleeveless Promotion suit.

Agree with most of the above.

I feel right between sizes and went for the next smaller because I am still dropping weight.  Right out of the box it felt pretty tights but after soaking it and then swimming in it it fit great.  I'm very pleased.

As to the sleeves.  I agree that the full constricts a tad.  I am starting to get used to it though and I prefer the feel of the full.

That may be just me though.

I was in between sizes because of my weight and measurements. I called Promotion and once we went through all the measurements and such, they recommended that I use the smaller size even though my weight and height would have suggested the larger. I would definitely give them a call regarding fitting if you have any questions. The suit fits great (sleeveless) and I am glad I went with the smaller size.

I called ProMotion about fit for my full suit. I told them that I was most concerned with the fact that I have big legs and a big butt. The guy still suggested I go with the size smaller than what I was going to pick because I was on the low end of the fit for the bigger size. The smaller size fits perfectly. I spent at least half an hour on the phone (leaving it more than once to try and take a measure of my head for a neoprene cap). The guy on the line was super patient.

I'm very happy with it and I can still lose 10 lbs and have the fit remain ok.

You guys were all correct - The smaller size does fit the 'bigger' lower half of me BUT the neck feels pretty tight.  Is this normal, or do I not have it pulled up enough, or when it gets wet will it loosen up a bit around the neck?  Or is it just because this neck sits higher on the neck that it gives this 'sensation"?

 Ideas anyone??
