Subject: Need advice - Felt F1 frame

I may have posted the original question in the wrong forum, but this may be a more appropriate forum.

Someone locally is selling a Felt F1 frame for $350 (Dura-Ace BB and FSA fork). I don't know anything about bikes, I have a Marin road bike now and I was thinking I could just figure out how to swap all the parts. Is this a good deal for the frame? It seems like there are different "models" of F1 frame and i don't know exactly which one it is. I attached a picture, hopefully you guys can help me identify the year or exact model and if I should jump on this or not.

Thank you guys!

yep,

I know nothing about this frame but it looks good for $350.  I'd ask about any damage to the frame.  Others might know if you can transfer your current set up over to this bike.

What is your current set up?

My current bike is a 2007 Marin Venezia -

I've been looking at pictures of the F1 frame, this seems like it's a 2008. The guy said it's in perfect condition, less than a 100 miles with no damage (which Ill make sure of). Does carbon weaken over the years? Should I be concerned that the frame is 5 yeas old even though it has little use?

Sounds like a good deal to me.  Carbon does not deteriorate, unless the bike has been crashed no reason to shy away from it.  Felt maintains prior year websites, but only back to 2009.

I've got a 2009 or 2010 FC frameset built up with parts from my first road bike, which is Ultegra from 2005 or 2006.  I really like the bike, and the components still perform very well with about 8k miles on them.

I bet if you buy this bike and build it up you will be hooked from the first mile.

One other thing--your current front derailler is probably clamp on, and the Felt frame is braze on.  You would need to buy a replacement.  When I rebuilt my bike on the new frame I had to do this, and bought a used Ultegra front derailler for about $30.  You can find them on BT/Slowtwitch/eBay all day long.
